Today in exceedingly inapt historical comparisons we have a rather incredible comment on the Men’s Rights subreddits suggesting a parallel between so-called “woke culture” and … the Chinese Cultural revolution, which you might remember as a terrifying cultural crusade in the name of Marxist purity that tore apart countless families and left perhaps as many as twenty million people dead.

Incel ideology is a complicated mess of hatred and self-hatred. The most famous incel, the mass killer Elliot Rodger, alternated between grandiosity and self-pity, but his deepest anger was directed at the attractive women who ignored him; his intention, on his “day of retribution,” was to massacre “the very girls who represent everything I hate in the female gender: The hottest sorority of UCSB.”

In Taylor Swift’s new music video “The Man,” the pop icon dons male drag (complete with scruffy beard) and struts about like the biggest douchebag on planet earth — manspreading on the subway, throwing a temper tantrum on a tennis court, pissing in public, and, in a scene from “58 years later,” marrying a woman who looks like she could be her/his great-granddaughter. As a riff on male entitlement, it’s not what you’d call especially subtle. But it still manages to be funny in spots.

The Nazi boys over at The Daily Stormer have made it clear that, in the realm of ideology in any case, they’re as bad as Hitler in almost every way possible. When it comes to the Woman Question, they’re arguably worse. While Hitler preferred women relegated to the sphere of ‘Kinder, Küche, Kirche “ (children, kitchen, church), he at least pretended to respect them.

During a speech yesterday, the newly “unshackled” Donald Trump denounced the women who have accused him of sexual harassment and assault as “horrible people” and “horrible, horrible liars.”
But he also devoted a good deal of time to another group that he claims he’s fighting against, a conspiratorial cabal he variously labeled “the establishment,” “those who control the levers of power in Washington,” “the global special interests,” and “people that don’t have your good in mind.”
