After several days of seemingly endless outages and timeouts, We Hunted the Mammoth is on a new server and … working ok so far (crossed fingers). There’s one more little change the WordPress people need to make; hopefully that won’t disrupt the site for too long.

Some of you might have noticed that I’ve changed the tag line for this site to ‘Bucking the Backlash,” replacing the old tag “Misogyny, Tracked and Mocked.” This is both a reflection of what’s been going on with the blog already and where I see it going in the future.

As the pledge drive rolls to a stop, I’d like to take the opportunity to once again offer my gratitude to everyone who donated (as well as those of you who donate on a monthly basis).

The last time I updated you on the progress of the pledge drive, I was feeling pretty discouraged about how it was going, and pretty pessimistic about the future of the site. But now, I’m feeling a lot better. Thanks to a small flood of donations, some quite generous, things are looking a lot brighter, and we’ve almost reached our goals.
If you’re one of those who donated, thank you!
If you haven’t donated yet, please rectify this by hitting the donate button below!

Sorry to have to bring some bad news to you all, but the pledge drive is, well, not doing so great. While some of you have stepped up and donated, in some cases generously, the total number of donors has been much smaller than usual, and unless we can turn this around, hopefully in the next few days, I’m going to have trouble keeping the blog running. It’s likely I’ll have to cut back on posts, possibly drastically, and/or seriously consider shutting the blog down. I’m really sorry to have to even raise this as a possibility, but unfortunately it’s a real one.
Which seems a pity, because if everyone who enjoys this blog on a regular basis were to donate even a small amount of money, as a lump sum or monthly, we could raise all the necessary money to keep the blog (and me) thriving in a matter of a couple of hours.

As you might have noticed, this site has not been on its best behavior lately; there have been slowdowns, 504 errors, outages. Well, with the help of am internet maven who was very generous with her time and expertise, we’re now back on track. And on a shiny new server. So hopefully things will be running a bit more smoothly from here on out, though there may be a few glitches as we settle in on the new server. There are a few formatting things i need to fix as well.

Hey tech wizards! I’m (stil) having some issues with the back end of the blog and could really use some advice and/or help from someone who knows about web hosting/internet stuff.

Happy New Year’s!
Let’s hope the new year actually is at least a little bit happy this time!
