Hey, hostile visitors! Do you have an opinion about, for example, Mary Koss’ rape research? Do you want to discuss it even though the topic has not actually come up by itself in any of the threads and none of my recent posts really have much to do with the specifics of anyone’s rape research? Well, from now on you can discuss it here with anyone who wishes to follow you to this thread.
Added bonus: If you continue to try to discuss it in other threads you’ll be banned!
This also applies to future derailers riding hobbyhorses of their own having nothing to do with Koss.
Happy discussing!
Note: If you wish to discuss the topics at hand, you know, topics directly related to my posts and/or to what other people are discussing and that aren’t, you know, personal hobbyhorses of yours that involve long screeds and various things that you’ve probably already cut and pasted into the comments sections of various other websites until you were banned from them for endless derailing and general asswipery, feel free to remain in the original threads.

LBT – is “comfortable in skin” offensive to trans* people? I’d never heard it before, it’s just how I thought of cis, as if the word was an acronym. I apologise if it’s offensive, I wouldn’t have used it if I’d known it had wider usage.
Also, isn’t being focused on specifically because of gendered characteristics that they wish they didn’t have super uncomfortable for trans people? I’d think having that particular kind of attention go away would be even more of a relief than it would be for cis women.
@LBT
Yeah, that blogpost was… awful. I guess I should be glad I don’t know what cotton ceiling is, but somehow I’m guessing it’s some racism to go with their transphobia

“Fade — http://feministdisney.tumblr.com/post/8568399087/chart-of-the-day-depressing-pay-gap-statistic”
That was *me, but thanks 🙂 . I wanted a citation but am lacking good computer. Thougth trolly could use a little evidence, not that it’d get through to him anyway.
*nvm saw that you saw that it was me… Leaving stream of conscious up though cuz that’s how I comment XD
@gnl
“Identifying “disadvantage” identifies a group that needs lifted up. This is a very important distinction”
Then think of it as disadvantages if it helps. Just accept that you can’t force everyone to change what they call it.
“The thing that was hardest for him to deal with was the lack of attention. It took weeks to notice, but once he did notice that no one ever commented on his appearance he became very self conscious about it, not understanding why no one noticed him any more. It was a difficult transition and not all peaches and cream on this side of the fence”
I want a citation. It’s probably possible, but I have a hard time seeing how getting cat called and reduced to ones appearance would be something to miss.
“The rate of false accusations within the subset of rape accusations is comparable to the rate of rape within the general population. I’ve worded this carefully. Stop refuting something I didn’t say.”
Stop backtracking, you tried to say they were pretty much the same.
“First horribly unbalanced power in parental rights. We have codified into law that women are the gatekeepers of reproduction. Women hold all the cards and have all the power. This is broken. Removing access to birthcontrol would reblance”
Wow all the fuck yous. Anyone who can get pregnant (not only women there…) should be able to use birth control. And yes, the person who can get pregnant should be abl to chose whether they do. You can’t use people as unwilling breeding machines, you fucking asshole. If you want to not get someone pregnant, use a fucking condom. Both parties can try to avoid babies, nobody should try to force babies on their partner.
@ugh
“Google “condoms.” They’re pretty famous little pieces of technology.”
Much better (and shorter) than what I got typed to the troll XD
@gnl
“Well Paul Elam walks the line. I’m sure if I looked I could find something where he missteped a little. The”
Paul “the thought of fucking up you shit gives me an erection?” Walks the line. ::whistles:: I’m not sure what to add, other than that your standards for not being a hateful bigot need adjusting.
“Warren Farrell is a feminist, not an MRA. His words are not controversial or inflammatory”
Good god, scrol through the first fucking page of this blog and you will find aeticles about how warren Farrell thinks unemployment is worse than rape, date rape is so similar to ‘date fraud’ aka going on a date with a man and not sleeping with him at the end, and how “what we now call rape we used to call exciting”. He’s a fucking shitstain of a human being. And evn if he did ID as a feminist(don’t the he does, but don’t know) it wouldn’t change the fact that he’s a horrible person.
““This biological reality cannot be removed via application of rhetoric”
Well men are decidedly biologically larger stronger and faster. Men don’t face the biological reality of the burden of pregnancy. What benefits should men rightly get that reflect these biological realities (If you can name on par with deciding if a child lives or dies that would be great)”
Dude, this is 101 shit. It’s not because women are vindictive bitches who want to kill babies, it’s because you cannot tell someone else what they should d with their bodies . And lol @ biological realities. Since men are ON AVEAGE YOU FUCKING TWIT stronger than women, they can enjo lifting heavier things, whatever. Women, or people who give birth but aren’t women, should have control of their own bodies too. Accept that. Sorry if you don’t think it’s fair, but you can’t force people to have babies, you fucking shitstain.
“No. They are not misogynists. They are sexists. Use the right words. They are also sexist against men”
That’s nice. The negative affects of patriarchy on men are not misandry. If you have a problem with them being sexist against men, tell them, not us.
@bigmomma
“Hey Marie, I’m making spanikopita(sp? ) today. Can j make any in advance to be cooked when needed as I’m pretty busy with kids and life and my quietest times of the day are mid afternoon.so I like to prep dinner then so I can be free for homework/lunchbox making and generally cleaning up behind the kids in preparation for bath and bed.”
Sure. What I do is cook it all first, and then when you want to eat some later, microwave for 40-50 seconds and stick it in an oven or toaster oven if you have one to make it crispy. Still tastes good 🙂
@fade
::unwisely reads trans phobic asshats you quoted::
” (cis) Most women find the word offensive”
…no I think that’s just the ones who hate to admit cis privilege is a thing…. Cuz I’m a cis woman and I don’t find it offensive.
“With this is mind, what do trans really mean when they call women cis-women or cis-females or cis-lesbians? They are literally saying, “cut and kill women/females/lesbians.””
…the author is reaaaallly stretching…
RE: Kittehserf
I admit, the term gives me aggro, but that’s because… well, some trans people are totally fine with their bodies as they are. I mean, I had to do some judicious tailoring of my vessel, but not everyone does, and the idea that every trans person needs body modding is a damaging one. (Also, ‘uncomfortable in my skin’ feels like a woefully inadequate term to describe the dissonance I had.)
RE: Fade
Actually doesn’t involve that, far as I know. IIRC, I think it’s the idea that queer trans women are pretty much shut out of dating in women’s spaces. Which, as a friend of mine put it, well, yeah, but that seems rather… trivial… in comparison to the MASSIVE AMOUNTS of other troubles trans women face. Also, apparently some transphobic queer women like to use it as a, “TRANS WOMEN AFTER OUR SEXYTIMES” scare rhetoric.
@lbt
“I didn’t even TOUCH “the cotton ceiling” (it’s a concept that makes me want to vomit blood), but dear GOD, why are people so bitchy about ‘cis”
Wow I probably don’t want to know what they were saying there… Already spewed my theories about not wanting to think that they have cis privilege. Either that or can’t accept that both trans and cis are things and cis shouldn’t be considered the default :/
RE: Marie
By the same logic, when I say ‘cis men’ I obviously mean I want to cut and kill men. Even though I am gay. I want to cut, kill, and kiss them, ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
My god. I had no idea I was so diabolical! I’ll have to notify my husband right away.
No, it seems not to be largely about race, from what I’ve been reading.
@LBT your story is sad. You do need help. Yours is not the only story out there. Because the experiences of a different person are not the same as yours does not make them invalid. You faced bigotry because of who you are, and that is wrong. You should not have faced that bigotry. You faced issues, major issues. That does not mean others don’t face issues, or that these issues shouldn’t be addressed. I’m not going to play “My life is worse, no one wins that game”, and let me tell you…..you are not a clear winner.
@everyone else Well your ability to quote mine is second to none. Your inability to understand any perspective other than your own is baffling. If there is ever to be any movement on these issues I would suggest you read “7 habits of highly effective people”, this book has nothing to do with gender or race. It’s about being a better person. Pay particular attention to the habit “Seek first to understand…” You clearly have the intent to misunderstand me so that you have cause to attack me. You are simply waiting for your turn to speak, never really listening.
Also, by trying to make this a white issue not a gender issue, you are clearly showing that you can’t defend the gender issues. Racism is still a thing. When you can’t defend gender issues on gender, trying to make the race issues doesn’t solve anything.
RE: Kittehserf
D’oh, I went on my little mini-rant and forgot the most basic thing.
I’m trans. I’m comfortable in my skin. The idea that cis = “comfortable in skin” is obviously unpalatable to me and all the other trans people who, regardless of what their bodies look like, are happy with them.
gnl
fuck off, learn statistics, learn what the heck systematic oppression is.
Argenti, if you go by Lisak’s figure of 5.9% false accusations, you’ll get:
0.059*0.16*0.36 = 0.0033984 (~0.3%)
But I have seen a recent study (forgot the citation) that says that the 10% police report figure, first found in the Fisher et al. study of female rape victims, has increased only by 4%. And this was for a large representative sample in the US. Therefore, the chance of being falsely accused is actually 0.13%.
Misandry! False rape society! Feminism protects false accusers!
LBT – gotcha, thanks. I wasn’t going to get into the habit of mentioning that not-definition (like I said, I thought it was just me!) but I’ll certainly avoid it now.
Seconding this.
@gnl
“That does not mean others don’t face issues, or that these issues shouldn’t be addressed. I’m not going to play “My life is worse, no one wins that game”, and let me tell you…..you are not a clear winner.”
Um… Wtf. He was talking about getting abandoned by his family as an issue, and your example person was talking about people not commenting on his looks. I think the first one is a much bigger problem, in much greater need of addressing
I just read a site or two looking up cotton ceiling and … eeep. 🙁
“gnl
fuck off, learn statistics, learn what the heck systematic oppression is.”
Thirding 😉
Call it 60 years in which you may be accused of rape (assumes accusations occur against those 15~20 – 75~80 … Albert Fish is all I have to say regarding the upper end)
So of the current population, 15+ years old, that’s…
{([Population over 15 / 2] * 0.000576) / ([Population over 15 / 2] / 100,000)} / 60 = annual rate per 100,000
{([251,759,060 / 2] * 0.000576) / ([251,759,060 / 2] / 100,000)} / 60 = annual rate
{(125,879,520 * 0.000576) / (125,879,520 / 100,000)} = annual rate
{72,507 / 1,259} / 60 = annual rate
57.59 / 60 = annual rate
0.959 = annual rate of false accusations per 100,000 males age 15 or older
About the odds of being killed by a shark. 1/31st the odds of being killed by a dog. You should be more afraid of your dog killing you than a woman falsely accusing you of rape by a large margin.
Kitteh, I’m not LBT, but I personally use the phrase “uncomfortable in my skin” to describe my own dysphoria. It’s a really awful feeling that I’m unable to cope with most of the time unless I try to “distract” myself (for lack of a better word). And even when I’m “distracted” I feel dissociated, weak, and unable to feel at peace because my body has so much wrong with it.
But I have the same view as LBT in regards to when it’s applied to others.
Argenti, you know what this means?
Dogs are misandry.
Aaliyah – it’s one of those terms one can use of oneself but not others, isn’t it? There’s just too much variation in people’s experiences for it to have any general meaning.
I can haz math, ignore that, sharks a less likely, that isn’t per 100,000.
But this is — http://www.amnestyusa.org/our-work/campaigns/demand-dignity/maternal-health-is-a-human-right/maternal-health-in-the-us
Childbirth, that “privilege” of women? Way more likely to result in death (and that’s per live births, not per pregnancies).
Why do you evil bitches keep mocking me on this mockery blog? You’re just not New Age enough, that’s the problem.
(He does get points for being the first MRA I’ve seen reference New Age stuff in a positive way. Not because he’s right, just because that’s hilarious. Someone should write a Seven Habits of Highly Aggressive Misogynists.)
Bees, too. I think there are more deaths from beestings here than deaths by sharks. Misandry!
“Argenti, you know what this means?
Dogs are misandry.”
O no, where shall the many menz find pets now?????
