Hey, hostile visitors! Do you have an opinion about, for example, Mary Koss’ rape research? Do you want to discuss it even though the topic has not actually come up by itself in any of the threads and none of my recent posts really have much to do with the specifics of anyone’s rape research? Well, from now on you can discuss it here with anyone who wishes to follow you to this thread.
Added bonus: If you continue to try to discuss it in other threads you’ll be banned!
This also applies to future derailers riding hobbyhorses of their own having nothing to do with Koss.
Happy discussing!
Note: If you wish to discuss the topics at hand, you know, topics directly related to my posts and/or to what other people are discussing and that aren’t, you know, personal hobbyhorses of yours that involve long screeds and various things that you’ve probably already cut and pasted into the comments sections of various other websites until you were banned from them for endless derailing and general asswipery, feel free to remain in the original threads.

@ Argenti
While in general I agree with you, I’d rather not go there with this particular group of people, since I rather like dogs and these guys are perfectly capable of deciding that dogs sometimes kill people = all dogs should be put down.
Men, more likely to be killed by leishmaniasis than be falsely accused of rape — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_causes_of_death_by_rate
Cassandra — I misread that anyways, that’s 31 total, not per 100,000. But yes, consider it dropped (like a hot potato that’s causing way more burns)
“The rate of false accusations within the subset of rape accusations is comparable to the rate of rape within the general population. I’ve worded this carefully. Stop refuting something I didn’t say.”
Btw, no you didn’t. You compared the lifetime rate of false accusations to the 12 month risk of rape. The rate of female victimization has held at 20~25% for decades. So the risk of being raped, for women, is 20+ times the risk of false accusations against a man.
And do stop telling LBT what he needs to do and fucking condescending about how “you’ve it serious problems”
As for —
“Also, by trying to make this a white issue not a gender issue, you are clearly showing that you can’t defend the gender issues. Racism is still a thing. When you can’t defend gender issues on gender, trying to make the race issues doesn’t solve anything.”
How the fuck are we supposed to defend something on the basis of gender when the difference is occurring on the basis of race?
And I’m beyond beat, goodnight guys!
@argenti
“How the fuck are we supposed to defend something on the basis of gender when the difference is occurring on the basis of race?”
Wow, I missed him saying that, luckily. :/ so tired of trolls trying to claim act like racism doesn’t exist, and that what happens b/c of racism is because of misandry. :/ I hope this makes sense, I’m rather sleepy.
@argenti
Good night 🙂
And, I hate to triple post* but I should be sleeping too, so g night manboobzers.
*lies.
I’ve often heard MRAs say that men commit suicide much more often than women. Feminists will then often counter that women attempt suicide more often than men, which is true. However, I might note that many suicide attempts are more cries for help than a genuine wish to die… could women do this much more often?
I’m not saying anything necessarily, or coming down on the MRA or feminist side of things. Just musing out loud.
Ugh, please stop musing aloud. I was contemplating* suicide earlier, and not as a fucking cry for help
Maybe if you want to muse out loud, do it after gnl hasn’t worn down all our patience.
*as in about to, and the only reason I didn’t was because I thought i’d spend eternity in hell
Trolling – the ultimate cry for OMG PAY ATTENTION TO ME I’M SO SAD AND LONELY.
@CassandraSays- This thread is specifically devoted to discussion about “feminist research.”
@Fade- I’m sorry to hear that. Perhaps this isn’t a good topic, then.
Nope, this is the “pointless troll wanking goes here” thread. So it really is just for people like you! It sticks you in a nice convenient location where the rest of us can point and laugh, and then stop reading when we get bored.
“Perhaps this isn’t a good topic, then.”
I think the angle you were taking on suicide being not as serious for women is NEVER a good topic.
@MollyRen- No, I wasn’t saying that. In fact, if you’ll go back and check again, I wasn’t taking any side at all.
You were speculating that it was just a cry for help, how are we supposed to take it?
We’re supposed to take it in whatever way causes the most drama, and thus gets him the most attention.
GNL: Not all feminists accept you and you can reasonably expect about the same level of resistance.</i
Upon what do you base this.
The advocacy of MRA is limited. There are specific topics that we are trying to draw attention to.
Such as?
If you want the same things that I want I would love to have you help me advocate for them.
What do you want?
If you are facing or advocating for fathers in custody battles, you are doing it wrong.
I mean that. The interest to be defended in a custody issue is the child’s interest.
The rate of false accusations within the subset of rape accusations is comparable to the rate of rape within the general population.
Which weakens your case.
It’s also nonsensical. Rape is the far more prevalent crime, ergo rape is the crime to spend limited resources to combat. Moreover, unreported rapes mean that rape is a even more of a problem, since unreported false rape accusations aren’t an issue.
Meaning the number of false accusations, as compared to actual rapes, is even less.
This is broken. Removing access to birthcontrol would reblance.
What? Denying women control over their bodies (in the form of deciding when they are fertile) seems to be the last thing the MRM would want; a pregnant woman means child support is likely to follow.
And we know how the MRM feels about that.
Women hold all the cards and have all the power.
Unless you count condoms and vasectomies.
Well Paul Elam walks the line. I’m sure if I looked I could find something where he missteped a little.
Would that be the part where he said men should acquit defendants they were certain were guilty of rape?
This is what you call, “walking the the line”. What, pray tell, would you refer to as crossing it?
The intent of his writing is to infuriate and annoy you.
I thought he was writing to persuade me of the rightness of his cause. Seems that the “purpose” of the MRM isn’t actually equality, but to piss people off.
Warren Farrell is a feminist, not an MRA. His words are not controversial or inflammatory.
What? I could swear there was just a lot of controversy at UofT because he came to speak.
You only know his name because Paul is such an ass hat …
No dipshit, I know his name because I was reading Penthouse in the 80s., and went looking for issues from the 70s. I saw his books in the stores (TMOMP) came out about the time I joined the Army. Not all of us are such simpletons as you. I’ve been paying attention to Gender Issues for a long time.
Farrell not a feminist now, whatever he may have been in the past.
Eivind Berg. Never heard of him.
Sorry typo. Eivind Berge I could save you the time, you will tell me he’s an outlier, but Elam has praised him, and you admit Elam counts, so he’s not as out there as all that.
I’m not going to play “My life is worse,
Oh Man! I’m dyin’ here. You should call Caroline’s and see if they’ll book you. This shit is comedy gold, I mean it, “ If there is ever to be any movement on these issues I would suggest you read “7 habits of highly effective people”, this book has nothing to do with gender or race. It’s about being a better person. Pay particular attention to the habit “Seek first to understand…”
Out-fucking-standing. Pure Irony, in the wild.
PEMRA: @CassandraSays- This thread is specifically devoted to discussion about “feminist research.”
Nope. Says right on the tin that this thread is to make it possible for pusillanimous pinheads like yourself to vent your spelentic rage here:
If you wish to discuss the topics at hand, you know, topics directly related to my posts and/or to what other people are discussing and that aren’t, you know, personal hobbyhorses of yours that involve long screeds and various things that you’ve probably already cut and pasted into the comments sections of various other websites until you were banned from them for endless derailing and general asswipery, feel free to remain in the original threads.
And, in keeping with the purpose of manboobz, we get to mock your misogynistic ass.
@Argenti – I know you’ve gone to bed, but I am impressed by your dedication to finding out an answer.
I’m going to look at your numbers, but my first guess off the bat is that you didn’t take into account the fact the data is all age-adjusted. (And forgive me if I’m obviously wrong about that, it is just the first thing that struck me from a brief skim.)
That was beautiful.
RE: Fade
Aw, damn, you too? Mega-bummer. You have my sympathies.
You too as in each of us was contemplating suicide? or each of us stopped b/c of the same creepy religious reasons*
Either way, you have my sympathies, too. Suicidal thoughs = sucky
*I think of these reasons as super creepy, though I can’t figure out how to put it in words yet
Enh, suicide; I’m an atheist so think of the afterlife merely as the universe’s most genius spoiler ban in the history of ever. I hang in there because I have a system to protect.
