BREAKING: Paul Elam of A Voice for Men is pig-biting mad at a dude who doesn’t hate Katherine Heigl

Over on A Voice for Men, noted human rights advocate Paul Elam has responded to criticism from a fellow antifeminist internet warrior in his typically logical, understated manner. Some highlights:

He’s whining, about jack shit, on behalf of a misandric cunt. …

Matt Forney just jerked off all over his bed sheets. And now it appears he is standing there like a virtual ‘tard, grinning about it and drooling.

At issue? Mr. Forney wrote a post some months back critical of the faux “offenders registry” called Register-Her, a pet project of A Voice for Men’s JohnTheOther in which female “bigots” – that is, feminists – are “registered” as “offenders” alongside female criminals. (Forney’s post originally appeared on the thankfully now-defunct blog In Mala Fide, but Elam only discovered it after Forney posted it on his own blog.)

In particular, Forney disagreed with Elam’s decision to “register” actress Katherine Heigl as a “bigot” after she made a Funny or Die PSA about spaying dogs and cats. The problem, for Elam and crew? That in the video she pretended to be a crazed testicle-hater obsessed with cutting off all balls, including those of human males. The AVFM crowd whipped themselves into a frenzy over this one, with Elam’s Number One Stooge JohnTheOther writing, in all seriousness:

Katherine Heigl’s supposedly humorous claim; that her advocacy of neutering pets is an outlet for her desire to chop human male’s balls off shouldn’t be taken out of context. The context being that she’s a creature of hollywood who lives in california – the same state which earlier this year saw Katherine Becker cut her husband’s penis off for the “offense” of wanting a divorce. …

We know it’s a joke. That’s the point. It’s both shocking, and plausibly deniable. It also wouldn’t be funny to most people if there was not an element of truth in it. Heigl’s “joke” included the word “yet”. This is an obvious nod to her awareness of increasing cultural acceptance of male-targeted violence and mutilation.

No, I have no fucking clue what on earth he means by that bit about the word “yet.” He goes on:

Male targeting violence persists and escalates because in the unconscious reptile corner of men’s minds, they think nodding along with whatever vile , violent, murderous shit the nearest vacuous barbie utters in her you-go-girl bubble of social enablement might get him approved for access to the magic vagina.

Like Elam, JohnTheOther apparently writes all his posts for AVFM with steam literally coming out of his ears.

Here’s the video in question. (Sorry, it won’t embed.) As you can see, the real butt of the joke is Heigl herself, and more generally narcissistic celebs who glom onto fashionable causes for all the wrong reasons. It’s not really a castration joke; it’s an actress making fun of her own reputation for narcissism. (And the video is also a serious attempt to raise awareness about the need to spay and neuter pets.)

Katherine Heigl, attempting to lull a dog into a false sense of security so she can remove its balls.

Forney, in the blog post that roused Elam’s incredibly easy-to-rouse fury, suggested that AVFM’s claimed outrage about Heigl’s video was both silly and a bit unconvincing:

Were you honestly offended? Did that video get you mad? It didn’t get me mad. I thought it was stupid and unfunny, but aside from that, I don’t care about it. After watching it, I just shrugged my shoulders and closed the tab.

Forney went on to suggest that any MRAs who were offended by the video were, well, basically a bunch of “phony pussies,” a virtual mirror-image of the Politically Correct:

In trying to gin up indignation over Heigl’s ball-cutting comments, and the MRM are seeking to perpetuate our politically correct regime, not burn it to the ground and piss on its ashes. …

The men’s rights movement wants men to keep picking at their scabs, to wallow in self-pity for all eternity. That’s not a satisfying goal for me, or countless other men who want to rise out of the mud. Until MRAs address this issue, their movement will be stuck in  neutral, regardless of their occasional victories.

Yes, that’s right. A dude posting on In Mala Fide — which was known for its blatant misogyny and its proud racism, among other terrible things —  is the closest we’ve got to a “voice of reason” in this particular debate.

Elam, an MRA scab-picker extraordinaire, lashed out in barely coherent rage to Forney’s charges:

[T]his kind of chicken-shit nit picking by a supposed sympathizer is far more pathetic that the Heigl video could have ever hoped to be.

Why would the Heigl video hope to be pathetic? Also, how exactly can a video hope?

I write people like you off all the time. But then you have the gumption to parrot a bunch of keyboard courage about crushing your enemies? And you make fun of guys who get fucked over by the system? What a laugh. I don’t mean what you said, but you, personally.

You may be every bit as brave as your words. I doubt it, but I don’t know. What I do know is that your article is a misandric piece of shit. Based on your rhetoric, though, I would lay dollars to doughnuts you have never crushed so much as a Dixie Cup at a water cooler. Your kind of man never does.

Says the man whose entire life is devoted to bashing out angry internet screeds, and whose only known attempt at real-world organizing collapsed before it really even began.

You just shit on those out there taking the hits and doing the work, likely because you lack the conviction to stick your neck out for anything really important to anyone but yourself.

Personally, I would not talk to MRA’s about picking scabs until you quit being one.

I’m not sure if Elam is calling Forney a “scab” as a sort of random insult referring back to his mention of scabs, or if Elam thinks that Forney is a “scab” violating some imaginary MRA “sex strike” – or “cock blockade” – by not hating on the ladies every second of every day. I’m guessing it’s the latter, because Elam really is that delusional.

EDITED TO ADD: Matt Forney has responded to Elam’s little tantrum here. At the end, he says this:

And since I can’t end this post without mentioning that David Futrelle has (reluctantly) defended me on this issue, mainly because Elam’s neckbeard fans are going to brandish Futrelle’s article as proof that I’m an evil crypto-feminist racist mangina, let me just say that Futrelle is an even more pathetic bitch than Elam, and I don’t want his support.

Don’t worry, lil dude. I don’t actually support you. I simply agree with you on a couple of points: that Elam is a total drama king, and that anyone who believes (or purports to believe) that Heigl’s video is something to get ENRAGED about is a twit.

@Neutering/Spayin debate- When I was growing up, we had a male sheltie. Our family got him from a pet store, so it’s quite possible that he was from a puppy mill. He was terrified of water and had some other neuroses. He was also kept intact because my mom wanted to breed him (my mom is an idiot). Of course, it never ended up happening (thank goodness), but my dog was a lot more aggressive (he had a dominance humping problem that even strict training would never fully get rid of- if he thought he could get away with it, he’d do it), and he also ended up dying of testicular cancer at age 14 (which, although a good age for a dog of his size, I always wonder if he could have lived a happier longer life if he had only been neutered).

My parents bought another sheltie from a breeder a few years after he died. This one was a female, who we were legally obligated to spay per the adoption papers. She suffers from seizure problems (my mom had to switch her to a diet of oatmeal and raw eggs because every dog food they tried made her seizures worse) and must take daily medications. Now she’s bleeding from her rectal area and the doctors are saying there’s nothing they can do for the internal bleeding, so my parents are keeping her comfortable and making sure she lives the best life possible but it’s a matter of time until she goes. She’s a very sweet dog with a good disposition, but it’s very sad because the inherent genetic disorders from breeding (especially irresponsible breeding, which is what I think the breeder was engaging in) are very severe and can actually be made worse by keeping the animal intact to breed the next generation of inbred dogs.

So yeah, especially in America, where everyone thinks they have “the right” to breed their animals in dirty conditions and ignorance about how to best breed animals for a healthy litter (or finding suitable homes with people who will care for the offspring well), I think the spaying and neutering of animals is incredibly important to keeping feral populations in check (and prevent the subsequent extinction of small songbirds and other native species), and also lowers the rate of disease/rabid animals on the streets and the cruel short lives of previously loved pets who were dumped to fend for themselves when they stopped being a kitten/puppy/bunny/etc.

And if NWO thinks that’s hating on human men, then he’s just being a fucking narcissist and making everything about himself. This is about saving lives and improving the overall quality of life for pets everywhere. There is no evil agenda.

Uh oh, looks like the MRA shit is about to hit the fan.

Although, I’m fairly certain that this man was profiled for his race primarily. If he had been a white man, it would probably have not been an issue.

Nanasha — it’s possible it was his apparent male status (as well as his race) but that B&N apologized is basically proof it isn’t institutional misandry — the institution (bookstore here) does not agree with what happened. I don’t think anyone’s ever doubted that some people care pull up some silly ass reasons to hate specific men — the MRM will probably still flip shit though. (not disagreeing on the racism factor either, just nothing that even if he were a pasty white dude, it’d still be a case of one rogue employee not institutional misandry)

“Shouldn’t it be misandrist, like misogynist? There’s no such word as “misogynic,” after all. ”

Misogynistic is a word, so it should be misandristic I guess?

Karalora: For the record, I was indeed referring to people who go into politics wearing Christianity as their badge. Not all Christians, and not even all Christians who vote in a way consistent with their personal religious ethics. In the U.S., being a “loud and proud Christian” is pretty much synonymous with being a knee-jerk reactionary.

I’m sorry.

I may be a bit sensitive on the subject, because the Quakers (and the UCC, and a number of other groups) are quite politically active. They just don’t get the level of attention the reactionary right-wingers get.

But I see things like Carrie Underwood saying she’s in favor of Same Sex Marriage, because it’s the christian thing to be and I have hope that the narrative may change.

I love it when people accuse others of being cowards/sheep when they disagre with the the party lined

Oh no, puppy : (.

There are major issues with inbreeding in pure-bred dogs, particularly rare breed dogs. Deliberately breeding in harmful traits to meet breed standards is a big issue too, as is the utter refusal to accept new blood from outside the breed pedigree. But I really don’t think having random pet owners keep their dogs intact is a good solution to these problems. They’re generally not going to be knowledgeable about safe breeding practices, how to vet potential owners, and so on. Of course, I don’t really know what a better solution would be…

My recent (sad :() maladventure with dog ownership was with a rescued mommy doggy. She was found pregnant, and might have been abandoned for that reason. They found new homes for her pups, but if she’d been brought in after they were born it’s likely they’d be trying to make lives for themselves in gutters, poor things. The dog I was taking care of had health issues directly related to throwing a litter, issues that I had not anticipated, and I’m not sure the average dog owner would be any more aware of those issues and how to manage them than I was.

Poor girl, I miss her lots.

@ Nanasha

it drives me nuts when the MRM finds examples of men facing discrimination or hardship (or false rape claims) and try to pin it on misandry when it so often is more about racism or classism etc. And they certainly don’t seem to want to do work to help society change those issues.

Ashley Miller’s vagina, and how it destroys America:

Attentive readers will note one of our own trolls, garvan, shows up spouting typical MRA bullshit.

I love how dudes like Forney prove their intellectual purity by loudly denouncing all the people they disagree with. That’s why movements like this tend to get progressively smaller and more fractured.

I really wish I could afford to foster animals. My good friend fosters dogs and does such a great job with them. She’s awesome.

I did manage to save one kitty once (and hopefully a house full of other animals and children). I accepted a kitten from a free ad on craigslist and when I got to the home it was disgusting. There were tons of animals and kids everywhere, and the place reeked of piss. When I took the cat home I realized that she was COVERED in fleas. Not just a few fleas, like, several hundred. TBH I think had I not helped her she would’ve died because her body was so tiny and there were so many of them. It took me days to get most of them off, dedicating hours to baths and combing and picking them out by hand. It was awful. I got her healthy again though and I reported the parents for neglect. I’m sorry, but babies and toddlers should not be in a house with that many fleas (you know they would’ve been on all the animals and people if this kitty had hundreds of them on her). Unfortunately I couldn’t keep her forever because I unexpectedly lost my job and had to move back in with my mom who has jack russell terriers (who would’ve killed her) but I brought her back to a healthy state and found her a good home. It’s just like, why do people get pets if they can’t take care of them?

@Karalora: Sure you can. 😀

The cat situation in Sweden is terrible, btw. Both my sisters and my parents have been foster home for cats… the needs are endless.

But the dog situation is pretty good. The biggest shelter in Sweden rehome about a hundred dogs a year. Then there are smaller shelters as well that rehomes less dogs than that. And about 75 % of all dogs here are pedigree dogs registered in the Swedish kennel club, which I think sets Sweden apart from many other countries. The kennel club also has a certain amount of control over the breeding of pedigree dogs… for instance, one isn’t allowed to breed a bitch more than five times during her life-time, and if bred twice one year she must have more than one year’s rest until the next mating – there are rules like that people have to follow.

So I don’t want to say that everything is fine and dandy regarding dog breeding, but overall I think it works pretty well, despite most dogs being unaltered. Cats on the other hand… that’s a whole different situation.

Knocked Up was okay. It would have been better if Katherine Heigl wasn’t in it.
