Also, I forgot.
YAY SUNNYSOMBRERA FOR A ROUSING SUCCESS OF DAY ONE OF LET’S DO THIS THING!
That’s awesome. You’re awesome. Keep up the awesomeness! 🙂
dhag85 – so sorry to hear your symptoms are really bad. I was really bad at empathising with people with chronic illnesses/ conditions for the first 47 years of my life as I was always healthy. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have ‘the works’ re treatment.
At least it taught me what it means to live with illness, thankfully I live in the UK and did not have to worry about cost, though I was on a reduced income as a could not claim sickness benefit. I have made a full recovery so I work now. Just those few dark months really brought home to me what being ill really entails – so much more than just the illness itself.
Anyone else looking forward to more Game of Thrones? I am hoping for fewer prostituted women and fewer ‘tits out for the lads’.
@Ellesar. I’m so ready for GOT. Watch the marathon they had on yesterday just to refresh my memory. 🙂
@dhag85
That really does sound awful.
@Hambeast
Oh yes, I come across the type all the time in my work as a lawyer. A client’s ex-wife is a viciously abusive narcissist, so much so that he’s afraid to let us make arguments in his custody case because he knows she’s going to threaten his job and reputation the moment he touches a nerve.
I hope the lawsuit goes well, and that the kid gets to live with the obviously fitter parents. Good luck to you!
(It occurs to me that I am doing misandry all wrong: Not only am I busting ass to gain custody of an infant for the father, I recognize it when women are being abusive. Will this cost me my feminist card and CIA funds? The sky, it falls!)
@contrapangloss
Yay for smart decisions! That is creepy and boundary-crossing, yes. It’s also desperate and insecure behavior, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that there’s no steel wall between desperate insecurity and creepy boundary-crossing. Rather it’s like a road: Take the wrong exit* off of No One Will Ever Love Me Freeway and you find yourself down Boundary Violation Expressway, and through a series of other wrong turns may find yourself trapped in Creepers Lane. Take the Honesty and Integrity Ramp and you find yourself down Confident Maturity Highway and in generally better destinations.
To be perfectly honest I don’t know a whole lot about firefighting, except that it’s good in that it saves lives. I guess I just enjoy seeing people being passionate about what they do! 😀
Whoo our cabinets are finally installed! All we have to do now is catch up on all the dishes we couldn’t clean due to the kitchen sink being out of commission for a week. In a house with seven people.
Thanks for the kind words, PPT – it’s very much appreciated! 🙂
It’s hard to really put forth an ultimatum, since it’s my dad. Were it just some random person I knew – I’d of likely thrown them out weeks ago. At the same time, I really can’t deal with this much further and am becoming less tolerant over time (lack of sleep doesn’t help any). At this point we’ve agreed that, once he comes back from SoCal in May, he’ll need to find a place in about a week or so. I’ll even go the extra mile to be up-to-date on any vacancies in my area and send the info his way, especially if it fulfills most of his prerequisites.
Ugh. Moving is hard. I’m trying to plan a move across the country (because Cali’s way too expensive to live in now, and I can’t find work here), but it’s going to cost me five grand for all my expenses. ; n ;
@Ellesar
I’m happy to hear you’ve had a full recovery. As much as arthritis sucks, I certainly wouldn’t trade it for cancer. Ugh.
Wow..that is..wow. He taught Judi Dench to play D&D ?

@gilshalos He continues to be awesome!
@PPT I’ve spent today watching Pitch Black and Chronicles 🙂
So I’ve not been bored so..no breakfast or lunch. I am looking forwards to dinner. Thinking steak, chips, onion rings, mushrooms. Maybe peas. With luck I’ll actually cook and eat it.
OK, he is gorgeous. Not my type, but gorgeous.
The bad guy commander is much more my type
Talking too much here cos I don’t have anyone to talk to rl. Sorry.
And…the third Riddick movie ain’t on Netflix. Bah.
Watching Alphas instead
Hi gilshalos! 🙂
Look I never do this but I’m getting a little desperate. A dear friend of mine needs help, not even that much help. Like 5 bucks here and there. http://www.gofundme.com/qkaapag
She’s had a rough year. She’s the full-time caretaker of her 91 year old mom who has serious dementia. She was doing that while dealing with cataracts that left her legally blind. (She finally got surgery!! She can see again!! Yay!!) Her son was helping out with grandma until he followed his heart to NY and a girl who promptly dumped him and tossed him to the curb. (Ahhh, youth. I was a bigger dumbass at 23 so I don’t judge the poor kid.)
She just needs enough to get him a bus ticket home to the west coast. If anyone has an extra $5 (and I know that’s not always the case) please consider it. http://www.gofundme.com/qkaapag
Thanks. I know she’s going crazy with worry.
Hi dhag85 🙂
@mayimoktoo
Donated! Hope things work out for your friend. 🙂
@gilshalos
Sometimes I wish I was into movies so I could follow along in conversations. :p
I myself am cursed with craving potato chips almost every single time I feel any level of hunger. If there’s potato chips, I’ll always eat that instead of food. Also, every time I go to a restaurant for dinner I end up having steak. My wife is a vegetarian, which pretty much makes me a vegetarian too (hah!! movie reference!!), so whenever there’s a chance for steak I’ll have the steak. Unless the restaurant serves potato chips in one form or another.
Oh! I am a crisp addict! (Brit so crisp=potato chip)
And I cooked the steak with garlic and lemon oil 🙂
Oh, you did cook? Awesome. 🙂 I spent 4 hours in the doctor’s waiting room today, so I was too exhausted. Ended up ordering pizza, and also picked up a bag of ‘crisps’ on my way home. BUT, I still managed to hold out for the pizza instead of stuffing my face with chips. So I am not possibly the only person in the world who treats pizza as the healthy food option.
