US Army Brig. General charged with rape. Who’s to blame? According to The Spearhead, it’s women.

NOTE: Man Boobz Pledge Week Continues! Big giant thanks to everyone who has donated!

If you haven’t yet, and want to, here’s the button you’re looking for:

A Brigadier General in the US Army has been charged with rape. Well, actually, Brig. General Jeffrey Sinclair has been charged with a veritable laundry list of offenses, as set forth in an Army press  release, among them

forcible sodomy, wrongful sexual conduct, attempted violation of an order, violations of regulations by wrongfully engaging in inappropriate relationships and misusing a government travel charge card, violating general orders by possessing alcohol and pornography while deployed, maltreatment of subordinates, filing fraudulent claims, engaging in conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman and engaging in conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, or of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces.

While details are still sketchy, the charges apparently involve misconduct with several female subordinates.

Over on The Spearhead, W.F. Price bravely takes on the real villain here: women. Apparently their mere presence in the Armed Forces is enough to provoke male soldiers and generals alike to rape them and, while they’re at it, to buy booze and porn, mistreat their subordinates and rack up unauthorized purchases on government issued charge cards.  In a post with the title “How’s that Women in the Military Thing Going Now?” Price gets right to the heart of the matter:

I suspect that the more combat-oriented environment an environment is in the military, the more likely these problems with women are to come about. For one thing, fighting men are more passionate by nature, and then there’s the fact that these men also turn women on more.

Yes, because when male soldiers rape female soldiers, the problem lies with woman in uniform getting “turned on” by men in uniform.

A forward base in hostile territory is not likely to have the same atmosphere as an assignment stateside. The sense of danger actually tends to make people more sexually charged, or so I’ve heard from those who survived battles and sieges on the Eastern Front in WWII, where female-operated AA batteries behind the front lines became de-facto brothels.

Of course, male soldiers are also known to rape civilian women, so by Price’s logic women should neither serve in the military, nor not serve in the military. In times of war, they should just do all us dudes a favor and cease to exist at all.

If not, well, women just need to face up to the danger of “hanky panky” that their mere existence creates:

[O]ur personnel are serving in a remote Muslim country with no access to local females to speak of, and things are bound to happen. As to whether Sinclair “forced” anything on anybody, we don’t know at this point, and it seems unlikely, but it isn’t surprising at all that some forbidden hanky-panky may have occurred.

At this point, virtually all we know about the alleged crimes here is contained in that laundry list of charges I posted above. Yet someone Price is able to deduce that Sinclair is likely to be innocent here. Evidently Price is convinced that anyone who is a “real combat general” and who has “earned a number of awards related to combat arms and parachuting” is someone who is to be implicitly trusted.

In the comments, the Spearhead regulars offer their own unique takes on the issues of women in the military.

Keyster seems to dream of a day when women can not only be kicked out of the military but also out of pretty much everything else as well, except presumably the kitchen:

It’s not safe to work or serve with women.

The potential for trouble is way too high.

Once they invaded the workplace the last vestige of male only space was the military. Now even this is no longer true. I don’t know where men can go and work with other men without female interference anymore. Even if you own your own business, the government forces you to hire them…and invest in all manner of special female accommodations, like breast pumping stations and tampon dispensors.

Ironically the safest “male only” space is a Gay Bar. And even then curious women wander in to meddle and cause disruption.

Numnut drops some biotruths on us all:

Appears women are very horny once a month and will have sex with the most aggressive male available to them at that time.This re-enforces the “thinking with the vagina” theme that a women herself espoused.

Now that the lawz have given wymyn free pass to act out their base animals nature,no man is safe from the Whiplash regret post-sex.(ref to OT)

No doubt these milfem cursors were ovulating and thinking with the gash when they asked to be screwed.

The proper thing for the law to do is recognize this animal instinct and either regulate wymyns behaviors of legalize male sexuality again.

Women want it both ways,a rough man for sex,and prison for rough men.

Jean Valjean hopes that this case will help to expose women for being the filthy sluts they really are:

The question on my mind is will this man fight the charges and reveal the sexual nature of many women in the military or will he go meekly to his fate?

A commenter with the highly ironic name Reality offers up this bit of secondhand shitthatneverhappened.txt.

There was a guy who had been in the military who told me that in actual warfare when the bombs start dropping & the gunfire starts coming at them in an actual combat situation, women just throw down their guns and start running screaming like they would do any other situation.

We’re doomed. All so we can pretend ‘women are just the same as women’ [sic] – that’s more important to all these idiots that run this country & half the idiot population than the security of the country. It’s that way in any situation in life- this political correctness & diversity shit is becomes more important than success, life or death- you name it. In that sense it’s like drugs or alcohol addiction – you throw away your whole life for this one stupid, trivial thing.

Equality: Stupid and Trivial.

I learn new things every time I read The Spearhead.

Hey, Otis, have you ever built a house, hunted food for a society, developed technology or fought wars? Have you ever worked on a farm (women not only “helped” with farm work; women have historically been the farmers; it’s only recently become a male-dominated area)? Have you ever raised a child? Do you run a corporate giant?

Something tells me you haven’t, in which case you’re a lot more useless than most women by your own logic.

Are … are we sure Otis isn’t a poe? I find it really hard to believe that somebody can spout this level of nonsense without feeling like he needs to back any of it up.

So what are the odds on Otis having ever so much as picked up a text on anthropology? I think I would say zero. There are zero odds.

I like this recent article about how computers were invented entirely by men and women inventors never faced discrimination, but just naturally failed because of their inferiority:

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2011/09/univac-the-troubled-life-of-americas-first-computer/

On top of that, new management did not sympathize with EMCC’s female programmers, among them Grace Hopper, who by 1952 had written the UNIVAC’s first software compiler. “There were not the same opportunities for women in larger corporations like Remington Rand,” she later reflected. “They were older companies, and the jobs had been stereotyped.”

…Hopper’s programming staff was now besieged with attractive offers from companies using IBM gear, creating a brainiac drain within EMCC itself. “Some members of Dr. Grace Hopper’s staff have already left for positions with users of IBM equipment,” Mauchly noted in a memo, “and those of her staff who still remain are now expecting attractive offers from outside sources.”

[After leaving the UNIVAC project] Grace Hopper continued her work. She became an advocate of the assumption inherent in her UNIVAC compiler which she called “automatic” computing—the notion that programs should emphasize simple English words. Her compiler, later called FLOW-MATIC, understood 20 words.

Her contemporaries patiently informed her that this number was enough. Hopper “was told very quickly that [she] couldn’t do this because computers didn’t understand English,” she later noted. Happily, she did not believe this to be true, and advised a team that developed the COBOL programming language, which she championed and furthered through the 1960s and 1970s.

And that’s why you’re not reading this on a Remington computer.

If you want to go with the (heavily problematic) paradigm of:

Male -> hunter
Female -> gatherer

You’d logically end up with women being responsible for the domestication of plants. Who would be the better candidate in that paradigm? The male who spends his time chasing animals or the female who spends her time gathering and assessing the quality of plant matter?

So, even if you want to go with a paradigm that has very rigid and totally unverifiable gender roles that totally supports a 1950s American division of labor, you’d end up with women being responsible for the plant-based staples of modern life, like wheat, rice, and corn.

And for all the blathering the MRAs do about mammoth hunting, they might want to take a look at most books about human development. Meat did not built societies, grain did. The food surpluses and long-term storing of grain allows for individuals to specialize to non-food-gathering roles and allows them to refine, innovate, and develop the craft.

(yes, I realize this is an over simplification of human development and that the paradigm mentioned above has lots of flaws. My point is to show that even with massively over-simplified tracing of human development and starting from a flawed position to begin with, you can end up with the total opposite over-the-top conclusion from the MRAs: women as architects of modern society)

@Gametime

Well, he may have picked one up if it was laying on top of a copy of Mein Kampf or something. I would put the odds of him opening though one at zero.

@Alex

And agriculture is only male-dominated in the “West”. Subsistence-level agriculture (aka the back-breaking stuff, not driving tractors) is still 50%+ women’s labor, depending on the location.

I’m not sure. With his first “whites are superior to blacks” comment, I was thinking Pell because that level of obvious obnoxiousness is Pell-worthy, but apparently this guy came from Pandagon. He’s either a very persistent poe, or just a textbook hateful piece of shit with delusions of superiority over everyone who’s not him.

Groups he’s spewed offensive rhetoric about include:

Women
Men who have experienced sexual assault
Soldiers both male and female
Blacks
Jews
Homosexuals
Nerdy children

I’m sure there will be more.

He’s just desperate for attention from girls, the online equivalent of a flasher in the park. Whether or not he means any of it, the correct response is always to point and laugh.

This racist troll isn’t Pell. captainbathrobe said he’s a handmedown from Pandagon. He has some kind of sad hate crush on Amanda, but she rejected him so now he’s pooping here.

Yep, that Civil Rights Movement, all well meaning White people. White people turning fire hoses on White people. That’s what really struck me about it, how the Black people just sat back and let the White people run the movement.

So Martin Luther King and his cohorts passed the legislation that ended segregation? Is that your position?

I was not mentioning Western society specifically.

Oh but I’m afraid you were. The status of women in developed non Western societies like Japan is much less than it is in western, particularly Anglo, countries.

Something tells me you haven’t, in which case you’re a lot more useless than most women by your own logic.

Personalizing the general. A common liberal tactic.

My uncle is black and is a retired computer programmer. At age 50 something he’s already made more money than he’ll ever be able to spend. He’s probably smarter than anybody on this board and practically every white person I know. Doesn’t change the fact that AS A GROUP, blacks are dumb as a bag of hammers.

Similarly, just because I know several women who are above 6’2, that doesn’t change the fact that women on average are 6 inches shorter than the average man.

Liberals just don’t understand the concept of “exceptions”. To a liberal, one brilliant, strong, tall, brave, whatever woman proves that women are on average as good as men.

Re the notion that civilization was built by White people.

As one of my history professors once said (to my 98% white class), “Guys, while your ancestors were wearing animal skins and living in caves, swarthy, curly-haired people were building civilization.”

I was going by the insistence on using “female” instead of “woman”, the weird pompous declarations of his own “station”, and all the faux-facts. if it’s not Pell it’s a pretty good imitation anyway!

Alex

@Nepenthe,

That’s true as well, and even then the only reason that count for as high as %50 of farm labour is corporate giants going in and hiring men to grow cash crops, which has unfortunately displaced many women from their jobs.

@Otis,

So you have black cousins whom you refuse to meet, but a black uncle who’s A-Okay? Is it because your cousins are stupid (which you must totally know, having never met them and all)? Have you considered that maybe your black uncle is the exception in your family and maybe stupidity is just a trait in your family? It makes as much sense as saying blacks are stupid as a whole with few exceptions.

Nepenthe

And misogynistic white supremacists don’t understand the concept of “do your own work”. You don’t get to claim Muhammad Ali as an argument for your personal superiority just because you both have dicks. You don’t get to claim Marilyn Vos Savant as an argument just because you both have pale skin.

They also don’t understand the concept of spectra, bell curves, and why their bases for claimed superiority are stupid and confirmation biases to boot.

I find it absolutely laughable that men like Otis act like they can take credit for everything that anyone else who has a penis has done in the entirety of history.

Are all of these guys seriously as deluded and stupid as Patrick Star?

Ironically it’s liberals who don’t understand Bell curves

So you have black cousins whom you refuse to meet, but a black uncle who’s A-Okay?

I only have one black cousin, and I really don’t hate blacks, I just think they’re stupid. I have no interest in meeting my black cousin but wouldn’t be opposed to meeting her if she wanted to come visit (they live on the other side of the country). Now Hispanics, on the other, they are a different story. I fucking hate Hispanics. When my Hispanic cousins came to visit I moved out of the house rather than meet them.

I guess I’m a “racist” because I don’t think that Western societies are necessarily Anglo-only. Guess this guy either lives in a whites only gated community or wears blinders on a regular basis. Last time I checked, most places in the US have a high level of diversity.

THESE WORDS. I DO NOT THINK THEY MEAN WHAT HE THINKS THEY MEAN.

Hispanics

I’m not a “liberal” either. I identify as a Rational Empiricist. I do not fall into ideological worshiping at the alter of Democrats, Republicans or any political “party.”

The idea that there’s supposed to be a black/white, either/or default here is just another tool of intellectual dishonesty employed by these MRAssholes.

Otis is like, “I’m just not sure that I’ve flashed my ass enough in this thread. What if people think that I’m not an ignorant shithead? Let’s see, lack of basic understanding of history, check, rampant uninformed high-school biology level misogyny, check, sweeping stereotyping of black people even though I appear to know a tiny handful, ascribing bigotry to people with a straight face …

OH! HISPANICS!”
