Norwegian Men’s Rights Activist blogger Eivind Berge, known for his violent rhetoric and rape apologia, has been arrested for death threats against police.
Not too surprising, given that he once announced on his blog that “[k]illing at least one cop is on my bucket list.”
Here are some Google-translated details from a news account here:
The right-wing extremist and anti-feminist blogger Eivind Berge has been arrested for having encouraged and glorified the killing of policemen. The police have found both ammunition and textbooks in use of explosives at Berge.
The police regard the threats as an invitation to others to kill police officers, but also feared that he would commit the acts themselves shortly.
He was evidently arrested on Wednesday. According to this story — at least as far as I can tell from the obviously crude Google translation — he made a specific threat to kill a police officer this Saturday:
Berge also writes about how he was planning to attack a policeman with a knife on a Saturday evening:
“Then I used the trial to come forward as a good example for men, and I considered it to be worth 21 years in prison for premeditated murder.”
According to this account, Berge is being held for two weeks. He claims innocence.
Berge, as readers of this blog may well already know, is a fan of right-wing terrorist and mass murderer Anders Brevik. On his blog, he’s also argued (among other things) that “Rape is Equality.”
He’s glorified the murder of police on his blog numerous times.
Some examples, taken from the second news account:
“… attack on the police is something 100% in harmony with everything I stand for.”
“I maintain that police murder is both ethically and tactically correct.”
Some other examples, direct from his blog (each paragraph is from a separate post; click on the quote for the source):
I viscerally despise cops and wish them the worst. Killing at least one cop is on my bucket list.
If ever a victim of psychiatry, here is what I would do. I would first attempt to kill the cops or whoever tried to apprehend me. Failing that, I would feign docility in order to get out as soon as possible and then kill a representative of the industry as revenge. … killing cops is also very much a men’s issue. Every pig killed is also a blow against feminism, so men should be doubly elated whenever an officer goes down in the line of encroaching on our cognitive liberty.
This was his reaction to a news story about a police officer being killed:
Good news for men is rare in this hateful feminist utopia that is Norway, but today is a joyous day! Today I feel schadenfreude in my heart along with all the hate that feminism and resultant mate deprivation have instilled in me. One blue thug less on the streets.
From another post on the same subject:
The swine Olav Kildal died while trying to enforce our lack of cognitive liberty. This was a defensive, much deserved killing that cheered me up.
Here he threatens a female prosecutor:
To feminist prosecutor Anne Cathrine Aga I have the following message: The Men’s Movement is watching you, bitch, and we are seething with hatred against you personally and the police state you represent. Actions have consequences. Trials are still (mostly) public and they sink into our collective minds, where they form the basis of future activism. Hate breeds hate — that is a fact of life too smugly ignored by feminists. …
2011 is the year Norwegian men as a group emerged out of the blogosphere and into the battlefield. This in turn has led to a breakthrough for MRAs such as my good self in the public discourse, probably for the simple reason that the powers that be now realize ignoring us has deadly consequences. Men are angry now, and we have proven that we are deathly serious about resisting feminism. So the feminist prosecutors referred to above ought to wipe that smug look off their faces before it is too late. Clearly seventy-seven body bags wasn’t enough, but I am fairly confident that you will be sorry one day.
Aside from the explicit threats of violence, the violent and threatening rhetoric here is not unlike much of the rhetoric we see regularly on A Voice for Men and other MRA sites. AVFM founder Paul Elam, for example, told one feminist that:
I find you so pernicious and repugnant that the idea of fucking your shit up gives me an erection. … We are coming for you.
The blogger Emma the Emo, Berge’s girlfriend, has posted comments here in the past defending him. The news account quotes someone identified as Nataliya Kochergova, described as his girlfriend; I assume this is “Emma,” because what she told the media is similar to what she posted here. She of course denies that he planned any real violence. According to the article, she said:
There are not really threats. He has never had plans to kill someone, he has said several times in his blog. When for example, he says that “the police killings are an effective way to prevent stupid laws,” it’s a factual description and not a threat. Even those who love the police agree with it.
Berge, for his part, has stated publicly that if he had not met Emma, he probably would have killed by now:
At the time I wrote my last blog post, I believed I would probably become Norway’s first modern violent activist in peacetime. Celibacy enforced by a feminist regime had driven me to the point where I saw no other option. I would target the pigs who enforce feminist law, knowing I could realistically at least kill one of them before I would be captured or killed myself. Thus revenge would be assured and if I lived, my reputation as a violent criminal would make me attractive to some women. But then in the nick of time this blog attracted a lovely girl commenting as “Emma.”
This is why I take violent rhetoric from MRAs very seriously.
Meanwhile, on this side of the Atlantic, MRAs glorify MRA “martyr” Thomas Ball, who killed himself on the steps of a New Hampshire courthouse last year in hopes that his death would inspire MRAs to literally burn down courthouses and police stations.
Ball’s manifesto is still up on A Voice for Men in its “activism” section, including these passages:
So boys, we need to start burning down police stations and courthouses. … This is too important to be using that touchy- feeling coaching that is so popular with business these days. You need to flatten them, like Wile E. Coyote. They need to be taught never to replace the rule of law. BURN-THEM-OUT!
Most of the police stations built in New England over the last 20 years are stone or brick. Fortunately, the roofs are still wood. The advantage of fire on the roof is that it is above the sprinklers
AVFM tastefully omitted Ball’s specific instructions on how to make Molotov cocktails, but left this in:
There will be some casualties in this war. Some killed, some wounded, some captured. Some of them will be theirs. Some of the casualties will be ours.
For many more examples of violent threatening rhetoric from MRAs, I urge you to go through some of my posts here and here.

Tom’s been sipping the Christina Hoff Sommers Kool-Aid.
It was Naomi Wolf, in her book, “The Beauty Myth”, who claimed that there are 150,000 deaths from anorexia a year. Sommers pointed out in her book, “Who Stole Feminism?”, that that was actually an estimate of the number of cases of anorexia per year. Then Sommers stated that the actual number of deaths from anorexia is “less than 100 per year.” Since Sommers based her information on the number of death certificates that specifically named anorexia as the cause of death, anorexia-related deaths that did not specify anorexia (as opposed to heart failure, for instance) as cause of death on the death certificate were not factored into her statistics.
Wolf publicly admitted her error. Sommers did not publicly admit her error.
Conservative traditionalist anti-equality nutjob men like Lepine, The Norwegian white knight idiot, and this latest one, have little in common with Thomas James Ball, who primarily wanted equality for men in family law.
There are some very confused people who call themselves MRAs, who aren’t really anything to do with the men’s equality movement, just as there are feminists who focus on difference because they are massive whores, and nothing to do with equality either.

“Best interests of the child” is just code for “give the children to the economically inactive whore of the house, and throw the house into the deal too”.
Nope. It’s the best interests of the child. I mean what I say.
I did not call women whores, I called manboobzers and whores whores. To paraphrase Chris Rock, I love women, but I hate whores.
Tommy, when you were last here, you explained that any woman, any where; any time, who got any advantage from anything a man did, without paying him for it, was a whore.
Which means every woman is, per your definition, a whore, though you did aver that some small percentage (less than five percent) might not be.
Oh, I thought I’d posted this already. A sentence in the previous post reference this one.
Tom Yes Pecunium, I should have asked whether it’s worse not having the right to vote, compared to not having the right to live with your kids.
If that’s the question you wanted to ask… it’s even less of a no-brainer. Being denied the right to vote is far worse.
Which would you rather have, no right to vote, and a 95 percent chance of being given primary custody of children in the case of divorce, or the present state of affairs?
I’d like to see the bit where most manboobzers are opposed to joint custody.
Me, I’m agaist formulaic custody. I happen to be of the, “best intersts of the child” school of thought. I think any case of disputed custody needs to have a court appointed advocate for the child. I think that advocate needs to be well-trained, and independent.
One- It’s ridiculous to claim misandry- or even heterophobia- is as rare or random as the examples you cite, and I think you know that
One: It’s ridiculous to equate isolated people with no ability to actually affect your life with a systemic problem. You are equivocating again (well, no, again implies you stopped).
There have been videos that celebrated killing men.
And the last three grafs are misplaced.
Aww am I a whore? What a terrible insult Tom. Why don’t you go sue someone over hard chairs again? I’ll just be here, hanging out with the penguins.
“less than five percent”
3% to be precise
“Since Sommers based her information on the number of death certificates that specifically named anorexia as the cause of death, anorexia-related deaths that did not specify anorexia (as opposed to heart failure, for instance) as cause of death on the death certificate were not factored into her statistics.”
Usually suicide is also factored in (really, with most mental illness, suicide is the only factor in deadliness) — and as I said above, that’s 20% // 1 in 5. He’s arguing that a mental illness where 1 in 5 people kill themselves isn’t that bad, that’s just feminist propaganda. *is still quite livid*
Oh, ho Tom! I figured it out – my old chair had one missing armrest (which is why I had to replace it, but I digress) and so I had to sit in a slightly lopsided way in order to be comfortable. I was unconsciously sitting the same way on my new chair, and this was pressing my leg against the support on the armrest, and that was causing my leg to go to sleep. So – chalk up one victory for the male gender, eh?
Berge’s first date banter:
So, what do you do for a living? Any hobbies? Do you like to travel? I have this theory that rape is justified…
Martham’s first date banter:
So, what do you do for a living? Any hobbies? Do you like to travel? So, 97% of women are whores and hard chairs are misandry…
And you know what Tom thinks about penguins.
she didnt make an error. she wanted an impossibly narrow, deliberately misleading definition that let sneer at people she didnt like and she accomplished that ably.
your mistake was in thinking sommers takes her work seriously.
@cloudiah – Way back when, Tom told us about his first date banter. It consisted of him lecturing his date about why he wasn’t going to pay for drinks.
A Shabak file is a sign that he’s Super Important.
Oohhh…
I have an FBI file, a GRU (Russia and Ukraine) file, SVR (Russia and Ukraine) file, Cabinet General Intelligence Bureau of the Korean Worker’s Party Central Committee file as well as an MI6 Those are the ones I am sure of. I probably have one for Germany and S. Korea too.
It’s possible, but not likely, that several other Central European countries have files on me. I don’t think anything I did was likely to draw attention from the Mossad; but they are moderately wide-ranging, so it’s possible.
The same is true for 2me Bureau, not likely, but not completely inconceivable.
As Cassandra says, most spooks (I wasn’t one, merely in an Intel job) don’t go around talking about it. If it weren’t stuff that’s patently obvious from my public career, I’d not have mentioned them. The parts that aren’t, I’ve elided.
But Eurosabra was a political apparatchick. So Shabbak having a file on him is about as relevant as the CIA having one on Darrell Issa’s chauffeur.

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if many people who suffer from anorexia or other eating disorders commit suicide, anorexia can actually kill through the more direct method of starvation–a lot of anorexics have heart problems due to malnutrition. Bulimia can also have physical effects, both from malnutrition and from the effects of stomach acid where it doesn’t belong.
My earliest memories about eating disorders is my family taking care of one of my friends while her mother was in the hospital for some problems caused by having bulimia years prior.
Oh, sorry–I think I misread your comment. I thought you were saying that in anorexia suicide is mostly the only way people die, but I read back and it looks like you were just talking about mental disorders in general. Frankly, I’m not surprised the suicide rates are so high–besides the stress of the eating disorder itself, from what I can tell, most eating disorders result from mental stress.
WordSpinner — yeah I was saying that anorexia suicide is both fairly common, and much easier to research. Direct physical causes certainly happen, they’re just harder to research (anorexia heart attacks often get filed as simply heart attacks for example)
Actually, I don’t think she does… at the time, I was resorting to taking the high road there with Christina “I Got Mine So We Don’t Now Need Feminism” Hoff Sommers.
Yes, I’m not buying any feminist or politically correct spin about anorexia deaths being “under-reported”, when we know fems’ penchant for over-reporting.
I am however, believing The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) code F50 (Eating disorders)… and notice these stats are for all eating disorders, which means fems’ specific anorexia statistics look even more inflated….
Table 1: Number of deaths where an eating disorder was the underlying cause of death,( 1) England and Wales,( 2) 2004-08( 3,4)
Persons
Deaths
2004 16
2005 16
2006 21
2007 17
2008 24
(1) Cause of death was defined using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) code F50 (Eating disorders).
(2) Figures for England and Wales include deaths of non-residents.
(3) Figures are for deaths registered in each calendar year.
(4) Figures for deaths registered in 2008 are provisional.
And yet I just saw some BBC article claiming 160,000 Brits have anorexia, 10% dying of the condition – what a shower of fat liars feminists are.
But anyway, this should be great news for manboobzers. It means it’ll be safer than you think to lose that extra 15 pounds. Don’t worry, you won’t die – and you will become a little more popular with men too, because in case you didn’t know, we like you a bit slimmer than you like you.
Well I was able to find this:
Examined the mortality rate over time associated with anorexia nervosa. The author conducted a meta-analytic study using weighted linear regression to combine crude mortality proportions from 42 published studies to estimate the mortality associated with anorexia during follow-up. The crude rate of mortality due to all causes of death for Ss with anorexia nervosa in these studies was 5.9% (178 deaths in 3,006 Ss). In the 38 studies where cause of death was specified, complications of an eating disorder accounted for 54% of deaths, suicide for 27%, and unknown or other causes for 19%. The aggregate mortality rate was estimated to be 0.56% per year, more than 12 times higher than the annual death rate due to all cause of death for females aged 15–24 yrs old in the general population. Hope you slid a donut cushion under your arse for the couple of hours you spent digging up stats, as I wouldn’t want you to sue me for the hemorrhoids you incurred when you could have just skipped right to the “you’re all FAT, hur hur hur”
“And yet I just saw some BBC article claiming 160,000 Brits have anorexia, 10% dying of the condition – what a shower of fat liars feminists are.”
You missed the important word “eventually” there. 160,000 Brits currently have anorexia, of which 10% will eventually die from it. And *does some math* — yeah -15 lbs would put me at a BMI of like 15, maybe don’t go calling total strangers fat m’k?
I think I’m going to have some ice cream now actually, it’s way too hot, and that was way too stupid.
“But anyway, this should be great news for manboobzers. It means it’ll be safer than you think to lose that extra 15 pounds. Don’t worry, you won’t die – and you will become a little more popular with men too, because in case you didn’t know, we like you a bit slimmer than you like you.”
To hell with that. I say pass the Häagen-Dazs if it’ll keep me less attractive to icky fucks such as yourself.
As for the suicide element, do we want to include somebody suffering from anorexia who chooses to take their own life in the statistics for anorexia fatalities?
“Yes!”
Well, if you want, but then, we’d have to include the male victims of domestic violence who choose to commit suicide in with the statistics on domestic violence fatalities, and although the UK does not keep these stats by gender, there is some indication that the overwhelming
proportion of domestic violence victim suicides are of males:
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4674779
Thus combining DV homicides and suicides of DV victims, it means more men are killed in domestic violence than women.
In 2007 I wrote to Lord Campbell Savors in the UK on the issue, and he wrote back thanking me, and then tabled a question in the House of Lords, “Are domestic violence-related suicide statistics collected by gender?”, the governement’s response, “no”.
They also include suicides in with the maternal mortality statistics to make pregnancy childbirth sound riskier than it is, as well as including a period of up to six months after birth for a fatality to take place – it’s one huge ‘woe is women, honest’ programme.
I’ve asked women in the UK to estimate maternal mortality rates and they genuinely think that 1 in 100 women will die giving birth, when the stats are more like 1 in 8000 pregnancies, or even less risk, depending on which stats you look at.
Here’s reference to some even lower odds from those nasty woman-haters at the Guardian again:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/apr/12/maternal-mortality-rates-millennium-development-goals#data
“But anyway, this should be great news for manboobzers. It means it’ll be safer than you think to lose that extra 15 pounds. Don’t worry, you won’t die – and you will become a little more popular with men too, because in case you didn’t know, we like you a bit slimmer than you like you.” Tom Martin
Are you one of those MRAs that pretends not to be abusive?
You don’t get to own or corral women as a group. Feel free to get into your OWN relationship and discuss what you like with your partner.
My other half (of our PAIR, don’t get me wrong, I’m whole) would think you’re a dumb asshole.
“Thus combining DV homicides and suicides of DV victims, it means more men are killed in domestic violence than women.” Tom Martin
Absolutely incorrect, you lying conniving sack of donut grease.
themisanthropicmuse — I’ve got drumsticks cones, but here *passes a cone*
Tom — FFS suicide rates are counted in deaths from mental illness, the reasoning why here should be goddamned obvious (hint it has nothing to do with feminism).
“In 2007 I wrote to Lord Campbell Savors in the UK on the issue, and he wrote back thanking me, and then tabled a question in the House of Lords, “Are domestic violence-related suicide statistics collected by gender?”, the governement’s response, “no”.”
No, they’d be filed under depression, or that goddamned 90% of suicides with a mental illness. But you’re pissed that postpartum depression is taken as a real thing, so I really can’t help you any.
As for maternal mortality, that depends highly on where one is giving birth — “Lifetime risk of maternal death” accounts for number of pregnancies and risk. In sub-Saharan Africa the lifetime risk of maternal death is 1 in 16, for developed nations only 1 in 2,800.
And 1 in 100 was historically accurate — see further down that page. So you’re whining that the women you asked didn’t know non-historical data?
