Pompous Misogyny on Parade, Part Eleventy Million Billion

But of course! She's a she.
But of course! She’s a she.

Most misogynists, it would seem, are loath to admit that they’re misogynists. “How can you say I hate women?” they’ll ask. “After all, I love my sister. She’s not like the rest of those whores.” Or, “I just hate Western Women.” Or whatever fine distinction they like to make to pretend that their hatred of pretty much every woman they ever come across, or imagine in their overheated little brains, is something other than misogyny.

Then there are those who not only admit their misogyny but who are downright proud of it, thinking it’s a sign of their own personal superiority. Today, a pretty good example of Proud Misogyny, taken from the reactionary Christian blog Samson’s Jawbone.

Our intrepid woman-hater starts off by contrasting his brand of misogyny to the peculiar kind of woman-appreciation advocated by the PUA gasbag now known as Heartiste (but still known as Roissy when this post was written):

Roissy is fond of saying that he’s not a “misogynist”; no, learning the unvarnished truth about female psychology has given him a *higher* appreciation for women. Not so for me. Sociosexual philosophy has disillusioned me beyond all reckoning. Peering deep into the psyche of woman has rendered me grievously scornful in feeling and mercilessly unscrupulous in behaviour towards these unholy, ungodly beings. I venture to say that… I hate them. Yes, I hate them! And how could I not?

Did I mention that he has literary pretensions as well? Like a lot of reactionaries, Mr. Jawbone has adopted a melodramatic, vaguely archaic prose style that he evidently feels is the height of literary sophistication, but which sounds a lot more like the monologuing of some cartoon villain.

Oh, the vile criteria by which women judge menfolk! O, abominable, loathsome beings!

Is anyone else reminded of Newman from Seinfeld?

But Mr. Jawbone is just getting started:

A creature so damnably constituted as to admire a man for his “social dominance” – by which is meant his ability to waltz through an absurd series of meaningless, contrived riddles – rather than his work ethic, his self-sacrifice, his affability, his charity, his honesty, his justice – in short, his righteousness and integrity; such a creature deserves to be used and abused like a cheap street harlot – or better yet, a vermin-ridden ass – and discarded appropriately. Nothing more; she merits nothing better.

Here’s an actual vermin-ridden ass, having a nice scratch in the dirt:

donkey-lying-down-1-655x373

Oh, but Mr. Jawbone isn’t done yet:

Words like “honour”, “duty”, “kindness”… those things that define goodness and rightness… all meaningless, meaningless to this wretched, wicked half of the human race. And do women who profess belief in something “higher”; women who should know better, afford any solace? No. Instead they show themselves as fraudulent, fickle hellcats who think good men are “weak”. So alas, I can no longer view the distaff horde with anything besides revulsion and contempt. They perjure themselves by their own words; they are beasts, deserving nothing but callous treatment and damnation; and I can wish nothing upon them but furious hatred, ignominy and a miserable passing.

What a cheery fellow!

I take no joy in penning the above – but I feel clean and spotless as the lamb. What else is to be said for a lot that believes black to be white, up to be down, and good men to be worthless? Poor Ashley Wilkes, and all good men.

Hate to break it to you, dude, but you’re not actually a good man. You’re a pompous dickbag. Oh, sorry, you’re a base, proud, shallow, beggarly, three-suited, hundred-pound, filthy, worsted-stocking knave!

(Thanks to Shakespeare for that last insult, and to Quackers for pointing me to Mr. Jawbone’s post.)

Sweet! That’s a good thing, if people under 17 can get it w/o a prescription, right?

Yay. My brain was just being all frazzled/ not knowing quite enough about the situation. Is this an only New York thing? If it is I will be sadz. We need better pregnancy prevention in other states too.

More widely available emergency contraception equals less unplanned pregnancy and more control over their fertility for young people in particular. I only had to use it once in my late teens, but I’m really glad it was there when I needed it, and I can only imagine how scary it would be not to have it there in an area where abortion rights are shaky too.

Yay! I’m happy for all of you who are over there!
It still requires a prescription over here, though…meh.

I think a bunny maker is just 2 bunnies. ;p

Yeah, but with cyberbunnies at least we can control the bunny quantity.

Will pharmacies be required to stock it? I can see it ending up very much like abortion: technically legal, but not necessarily available.

I’ve thankfully never had to use it but in the UK I don’t think you need an actual prescription. I think you can just walk into a chemist and ask for it, though I think you have to have a consultation with the Pharmacist so they can make sure you’re still in the time frame that it works in.

Also, on the counter top of the reception at my local Doctors Surgery there’s a laminated sign that says something like “Point at this to indicate that you need emergency contraception”. That’s pretty awesome as well.

What I don’t know is if you have to pay for it.

It all makes me realise how lucky I am living in the UK, my Pill is free and the only tests I had to have done for it was a blood pressure reading, no smear tests or anything in the least bit invasive.

What’s more, I could go back to the Doctor any time I had unwanted side effects from a type of Pill and get prescribed a new one easily.

In fact any prescription contraception would be free, so if I wanted the coil or the implant or injections they’d all be free.

And if I needed to have an abortion I know that I could get one without too much trouble.

How we in the UK still manage to have such a high teenage pregnancy rate I just don’t know, because access to contraception is so easy.

I am much too hot to be a sock. I’m a star after all! And being purple means that I’m hotter than the sun. Purple light is the highest in energy of the visible electromagnetic spectrum. 8)

Errr, purple and mickey, you’re not informed enough to post here — but by all means, carry on. The regulars like chew toys.

Au contraire!

IDK about Mickey but I definitely am perfectly well informed. Free will is a double edged sword: You can hold others accountable for their actions but you cannot control their actions and cannot make someone else change. They have to want to change. That’s why guilt tripping quite often doesn’t work with abusive partners. They have no desire to change and find all kinds of ways to justify it.

@Historophilia
that sounds so nice.
To get contraceptives here(hormonal at least) you have to make a smear test, a breast check at least twice a year, blood pressure and of course a pregnancy test every time. And though not expensive, contraceptives are not free. My old doctor tried to bypass the costs for patients under 18 by getting lots of samples from the company and giving them to us, so I got really lucky when I was younger.
And while I appreciate the system looking out for my health, I really think I should be able to decide for myself.
Some are more expensive than others, which also leaves no room for experimenting. Which is kind of shitty when you react badly to the cheaper ones.
At least it’s relatively easy to get an abortion, but easier prevention of pregnancy would be nice.

Damn, medicine sucks so bad in the states; I’m about to go off of my parents’ health insurance, and I take like 5 different things I need prescriptions for… with copays that are already really expensive even with insurance. >_<

@Purple Star:

They have to want to change. That’s why guilt tripping quite often doesn’t work with abusive partners. They have no desire to change and find all kinds of ways to justify it.

The partners being abusive or the partners abusing? What doesn’t work? Making someone change with guilt? Guilting someone as abuse? Guilt as a motivator? Does guilting abusive partners often not work?
Trying to guilt abusive partners into not being abusive often doesn’t work? Making people change through guilting them would be… emotional abuse. So if you’re trying to make someone change through guilting them relentlessly into changing, you’re the abusive one?

Your two statements don’t connect in the middle in a way I can meaningfully decipher. Help. Heeeelp.

Manboob,

You throw this misogynist term around like it is an insult. But you know me, who I am, what I write. And I honestly believe I am not a misogynist.

I am a Woman Hater. There is a world of difference.

Misogynist is a clever little Femcentric term that women created to hurl at men or society whenever men or society don’t fall to their knees for the little dears. Sort of like Racist, something that the thinking man, the educated men would never wished to be levied at him.

But I’m woman hater. And it came from a long, long time of seeing, watching, and being with women, and knowing the creepy, greedy, scummy, black hearted little bitches that they are. You can’t hurl that “you just get didn’t get any” thing women that like to toss at men’s bloggers, because I did and I know them to their fucking core, literally and figuratively. My number dwarfs the number of the average man.

A woman hater knows women, to their core, to their little black hearted center, and hates them as they are for who and what they are. I could less if the little dears get all the institutional things they want. Heck I want them to have it and create their little world that they are over there with them, and men are over here.

Hurl your epithets at me, your misogynist accusations and I don’t care other than, in a correct verbal sense, you are using the wrong term. Its a little insulting from that standpoint, but I find it fitting that you can’t tell a misogynist from woman hater. You defend them because you don’t know them.

See, being a woman hater is a sign of good sense, a realistic appreciation of the world, the way things are, and especially the way women are.

PS, I’m here because my name showed up with you bashing me over something and I wish you would do it more. It really gives me better cred with the fellows. Fuck, we’re even good for each other. I give you shit to write about so you can play your beta/omega game, “Look I stood for you against those bad bad men. Please don’t reject me.” and your slamming me gives me more cred in the ‘Sphere.
