Nope, Saskatchewan. But right country. I’ll stop blathering now.
Thanks everyone! 😀
I don’t think I had fully realized how stressed out I’ve been about the job situation until it was resolved and I could sigh with relief… 🙂
Wow, Penny Psmith, your game is wonderful. I just spent 20 minutes in what turned out to be rural Latvia wandering dirt roads and following the power lines until I got to a place with a train station. It’s both engaging and soothing, which is nice in an era when so much entertainment creates engagement through heightening tension. I’m hooked. Thanks!
That run down village was in Bulgaria, near the border of Serbia (again I figured it out thanks to a flag). From what I know of Bulgaria there is an ample amount of poverty there. I also landed in Thailand, Sweden (just outside of Copenhagen) and the Mpumalanga district of South Africa.
This game is addictive. I think I might try my luck with the UK map (yes I know it’s kind of cheating, shush :p).
@Nicolaluna
That would help enormously, thank you so much. What is your email so I can drop you a line if need be (or better yet, just casual chatting :D)?
OOOH NOW I THINK I’M IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE! Pretty pretty Alps mountains. I love this game, thanks so much for recommending it, Penny and Monzach.
@300baud – Aw, so glad you’re enjoying this! I find it oddly soothing too. And you really do get such interesting places! I once found myself somewhere in northern Norway, which ended up being almost the highest north you can get in coninental Europe, or something like that. Got to some little fishing village, with a ferry terminal, and called it a ‘win’.
@epitome – One thing that usually helps me place indistinct roads in the US (or at least North America) is yellow vs. white road lines. Over here (Israel) and in many other places around the road, yellow lines are road edge, white lines (continuous or segmented) go in the middle. In the US I’ve noticed it’s the other way around, yellow in the middle and white on the edges. Haven’t checked everywhere, though, so might not be 100% certain, but still, it’s one way to narrow things down.
Another ‘trick’ that used to work was that if photo quality was bad I could know it’s in the US, since these were the earliest places to get on GSV; but as Google have been re-going through places and updating the SV, it’s probably not relevant anymore.
@sunnysombrera
I’m just glad to hear that you’re enjoying yourself. 🙂 I hope that you’ll find yourself in many other stunning locations. And I agree, the south of France is just gorgeous, all the way along the Mediterranean coast, at least when you’re outside the major cities. There’s a reason why so many noble and rich families wanted to spend time in that location, especially during the 1920s. Apparently it was quite the done thing to stay at Cannes, go to Antibes to swim and then to Monte Carlo to gamble. 😀

*waves* Hi, all. I should post here more often.
Well, only things I’ve been doing happen to be waiting for the store down the street to open up so I can try to get a job there. And I’m finally trying to clean out my messy, messy room.
I’ve also realized how much I’ve always hated cleaning out my fridge, too… but still. It has to be done, I guess.
Go Dvarghundspossen!!
I started a new job six weeks ago and this coming Monday I’m expecting to be sacked. Frankly, I’ve under performed, I’ve been locked in a form of workplace inertia, I know what to do just can’t bring myself to do it. I work with a team of bro-grammers and wannabe gamergaters and I find the workplace environment to be repellant which is sad as we provide software to the charity/npo space. Some of our clients have been of huge help to me, my wife and my children.
As I said I’m locked in a form of inertia, the bro-grammers treat me as a highly paid janitor, the business team don’t really know what I do other than I’m the highest paid member of staff. I’ve got 48 hours in which to workout what to do and I’m still in full on inertia procrastination mode.
Oh, wow, guys.

No idea where I am yet (don’t tell me!) but this is the sort of place where people told stories about the Fair Folk. It looks so eerie and magical.
Today my husband woke me up, saying that my parents were coming over and that they were bringing my dad’s blood sugar test with them. I’ve been getting the royal runaround from my GP, and they decided to take testing into their own hands. Verdict: my fasting blood sugar is a bit high. They also brought potato soup, and we had a nice visit while my rescue dog tried to be comfortable with these skeery people in the house. They don’t come by often, since they are older and it’s a bit of a drive (hour and a half).
Thx all.
I took her to the vet for her checkup. That’s when all this started. I don’t want to stress her out more but i don’t see how i can’t not take her to the vet. I keep hoping it’s just a virus. She just isn’t acting like herself.
I told my mom I’m queer, she hugged me and said that she and God will always love me no matter what.
Hugs and kisses for everyone.

That mapcrunch game is super fun. I found myself on a mountain road in Greece (and then accidentally closed the window and lost it before I could get an exact location).
I started over and found myself here:

At least there are people around…
In other news, I am in the Netherlands and happened across an episode of Bella and the Bulldogs dubbed in Dutch. I only caught the end of it, but it definitely did not look like porn.
@ej
I tried going about in Sweden, problem is, everything looks the same in this country, woods, woods and more woods with occasional villages where everything also looks the same.
Considering the last post here, this article feels relevant.

@spacelawn
It was actually Antarctica. I got far enough along the path and found penguins. They gave it away.
@ej
I thought it was Iceland. Or maybe Greenland.
American Pharoah won the Triple Crown. I cannot adequate express how happy this makes me.
This week felt like a train running over me… I haven’t got to the “I can breathe again” point yet :/
A friend came by a few hours ago and while catching up (haven’t seen him for a while) he told me he had hit his ex-wife in the past.
I was… frozen. I knew many details of their relationship, especially related to their daughter, and I had never expected that.
Granted, he also was arrested last week for hitting some guy who was yelling at him during a traffic jam.
I’m not sure how to react. In fact, we were supposed to meet later tonight for some beers but I don’t think I have the heart to do it.
I feel so numb right now. I can’t even words.
American Pharoah is just an amazing athlete.
@Autosoma: That sucks. But I understand that it’s hard to muster up any energy to change things in the situation you describe.
Rainey passed away this morning.
