Happy New Civil War Day!

If you go Civil Warring today, remember to punch a bunch of Nazis!

By David Futrelle

Happy New Civil War Day! Alex Jones sort of blew our cover the other day, announcing that all of us Leftist Antifa Democrats were set to launch the civil war today.

I’m still stuck at home loading my vast arsenal of guns — mostly squirt and potato — and also I kind of slept late but I trust that the new civil war is going swimmingly out there. I mean, I haven’t seen anything on the news about it but I’m assuming that’s because you all are as stealthy as ninjas. HAIL VICTORY! I’ll return to regular posting tomorrow after we’ve won the war.

On Twitter, someone recommended making barricades out of Hillary Clinton’s emails, because conservatives can never get over them.

I had to call in sick to the Second Civil War. Went back to work Monday post vacation. Had to get husband to pick me up after two hours because I was alternately lying on the bathroom floor and puking. Apparently wrenched my back while puking.
All of this has somewhat affected my ability to be civil, but if there’s an uncivil war, I am ready to go.

Dang it, I knew there was something I forgot to do yesterday. Launch civil war. That was it.

Apologies from the Australian leftie civil war contingent, everyone. Due to the timezones we started our uprising a day early as it was the 4th here yesterday.
Spent the day roaming around wondering where everyone was.
Bit embarrassing, but I’m sure we’ll get it right next time. Maybe if we ask nicely, Mr Alex Jones will include international date information?

There are some pretty good letters between Sir William Waller and his friend Sir Ralph Hopton who were generals on opposing sides of the first English Civil War. Even as they were leading armies directly against eachother they were exchanging friendly letters.

They weren’t going to let a political disagreement ruin their friendship….

I’m embarrassed to say I know very little about Frederick Douglass; but he was a fugitive slave and anti-slavery activist (as you might well be).

This though is an extract from a speech he made on 4 July 1852. It just struck me as relevant to that argument that, if only people were nicer to the bigots, they’d be more open to persuasion.

But I fancy I hear some one of my audience say, it is just in this circumstance that you and your brother abolitionists fail to make a favorable impression on the public mind. Would you argue more, and denounce less, would you persuade more, and rebuke less, your cause would be much more likely to succeed. But, I submit, where all is plain there is nothing to be argued. What point in the anti-slavery creed would you have me argue? Must I argue that a system thus marked with blood, and stained with pollution, is wrong? No! I will not. I have better employments for my time and strength.

What if they held a Civil War and nobody came?

Alex Jone would take credit and encourage people to buy dodgy food supplements to keep it from happening again, again.

Just a random Fredderick Douglass fact, that came to mind reading the quote above. His amazing career was almost cut short. He had a personal invitation to join the Harpers Ferry raid. Luckily chose to pass.

Noteworthy that the quote illustrates how old Concern Trolling is.

Man, Alex Jones is just turning into one of those apocalypse preachers more all the time.

“No, no, seriously guys, the Antifa Civil War is coming this weekend, so get your Brain Force Plus for extra online debate power when the BechtelRaytheonLizardJewminati come to take your guns away!”

We’ve been through this before: https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/3/16602158/antifa-super-soldier-refuse-fascism-conspiracy-theory

https://www.451unavailable.org/why-do-we-need-error-451

It’s a deliberate statement about censorship. Although I don’t know if The Hour are in on it, as their error message doesn’t include the recommended “blocked by” header to explain who’s blocking them.

Yuup. The EU decided it would be wise to force platforms like Google to pay news sites for the ‘privilege’ of providing free traffic to these news sites in the form of links. Also if any of you guys wanted to quote a small piece of a news article of interest here, either David would have to censor your entire post or he’s on the hook for either a license fee or face a fine so huge this site would disappear.

Also ANY derivative work at all would be strictly forbidden. If anyone here were to post a caption on a picture of a cat, then David is guilty of a crime and would have to pay a fine.

So a lot of sites simply chose not to broadcast in the EU.

At least I think that’s how it went down.

Don’t worry Euromammoths, our cat picture posting privileges remain intact.

The European Parliament has voted to reject a new copyright directive, which includes the particularly controversial Article 13. The proposed law was rejected by 318 votes to 278, with 31 abstentions.

You remember that Trump has on multiple occasions maligned London Mayor Sadiq Khan?

And remember that there’s that big baby Trump balloon?

Well guess whose permission you’d need if you wanted to fly that over London?

Fred Clark is long-enamoured of Fredrick Douglass. On his July 4th post, Talk About Your Revolution, he closed it off with:

Oh, and don’t let this holiday pass by without re-reading one of the greatest theological essays in our nation’s history, Frederick Douglass’ “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?

(Whenever I refer to Douglass as a theologian, people are always, like, “I don’t really see him as doing theology.” And I’m, like, “Yeaaaah, that right there is the problem.”)

Speaking of escaped slaves, are you familiar with William Peyton Hubbard? He was the son of escaped slaves from the United States who became one of Toronto’s most beloved public officials in the 19th century until his death in 1935. He lead the charge to have the utilities made public and worked on a committee for the city’s poor.

His old house still stands on Broadview near Danforth and he rests a mere stone’s throw from William Lyon Mackenzie at the Toronto Necropolis. Snapped a photo of his headstone while I was there.

I bring him up because a recent Twitter spat had some jackass decrying the fact that BLM Toronto received the William P. Hubbard Award for Race Relations. I was like “Dude, don’t even know who that even was, do you?”
