“Sick of Weird?” the promo email from the failing Daily Wire asked. “Us Too. It’s Norming Time.”
The link led to a video called “It’s Norming in America,” a sort-of tribute to Reagan’s famous “Morning in America” campaign ad.
Here’s the text:
It’s a new day. The sun is rising. The birds are singing. And things are returning to normal. It’s norming in America. Today, we’re actually arresting shoplifters and fewer businesses are being burned down. All over America, pronouns are being dropped from bios. Men are not having babies and fewer drag queens are flashing their genitals at children.
Videos like this one aren’t being shadowbanned as much. People are saying master bedroom. And look at that. White people are reappearing in commercials. Oh, and guys, we can say guys again. America, the fever has broken. Now we can be sensible, nicer, and normal. Join us and let’s never go back to those weird, angry, divisive times again.
It’s norming in America. Have a great norming. You hear?
This is just plain delusional. Back in Biden’s America, the sun rose, birds sang, people said “guy” and “master bedroom,” and there were white people in commercials. Also, literally zero drag queens at drag queen story hours ever flashed their genitals at children. Oh, and the non-incident in which a drag performer was falsely accused of doing this actually happened when Trump was last in power. I would refute the rest of the video but it’s hardly worth it. Suffice it to say it’s all bullshit. These guys live in an alternate reality.
It’s also worth nothing that in Biden’s America, we had an economy that wasn’t crashing and people weren’t stocking up on canned soup and toilet paper to survive the impending shortages caused by our fascist president being the dumbest guy who’s ever been elected to anything.
And if you thought those years were “angry” and “divisive,” boy, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
I’ll let Fairuza Balk have the last word here.

It’s hard to insist on “normality” when people, including children, are being kidnapped and illegally trafficked out of the USA by violent goons hired by the Government. I guess that is why the word “normal” is even more important to them now than it was before. They need people to think that this is normal. They need to bully people into saying that this is normal. Of course, it’s not normal, but, even if it was, it still wouldn’t be right.
They really hate being called “weird,” don’t they?
“They really hate being called ‘weird,’ don’t they?”
They abhor it, which is why it ought to be kept up relentlessly. It’s no more than the truth. It’s weird to claim that the sun never rose in Biden’s America or that the birds never sang. It’s not true, but it’s worse than false, it’s strange. It’s weird. It’s weird for the VP of the United States to travel to Greenland and expect to be squired around like a British Peer on a durbar through the Raj once he’s there. It’s weird, and the VP did it because he’s a weirdo. It’s weird for a cabinet member in the United States government to travel down to El Salvador to produce what can only be called a juiceless BDSM video. It’s weird, and she did it because she’s a weirdo. There you have it. Deny these people any pretense of normality at which they may aim. They are weird and that’s the fact. Remind them and as many other people as you can manage of their weirdness as often as you can.
For the longest time, liberals have been told to “get out of their bubble”, to “respect other people’s concerns” (usually really meaning “validate conservative fears”), and to “be the reasonable ones” (usually really meaning “be the only ones to make sacrifices to keep the peace”) while conservatives and centrists have very rarely been told anything similar. Meanwhile, the internet has made finding like-minded people much easier and made people less willing to be around “friends” and/or family who semi-openly advocate for their suffering and/or death (which liberals, as a whole, don’t do). As a result, most conservatives have found themselves in very homogeneous social groups where everyone is almost exactly like them, have virtually no personal experiences with people outside their social environments, and have rather distorted ideas of what things are like outside of them (conservatives are like 40% at most but think they’re more like 80%, are unaware that not all subgroups of conservatives are the same, have completely made up ideas about what other people know and believe, etc).
I suppose that some of them might know that they’re not necessarily “normal” in a relative sense – assuming such a thing still exists – but they might believe that there’s an objective “normal” and they’re it. For the others, if they ever come to believe that they’re no longer in the majority, then they’ll just change their attitude from “we are the normals” to “we are the specials”.
I have just learned there is a Capybara Cafe in Florida.
Still not going there.
@Parasol: Half of them hate their own parents.
Considering the normal is bipartisan keeping ice death camps open or funding Israel’s campaign against Gazans; I would personally choose not normal please.
