That $20,000 Donald Trump painting: Found?

The Timeless Art of Trumpduction
The Timeless Art of Trumpduction

A We Hunted the Mammoth EXCLUSIVE!!!! I have crudely photoshopped found a fake version of the mysterious and surprisingly sexy painting that Trump had his “charity” buy him for $20,000!

Alas, it is not quite as sexy as this actual real painting of Trump on display at Mar-a-Lago.

The Timeless Sweater of Seduction
The Timeless Sweater of Seduction

That is a real painting that exists (though not the one his charity paid $20,000 for).

In other, related news…

[CW : Trump and Howard Stern being extremely creepy toward Melania Trump] Could be all news to some of you already, but here we go. This is an article about an interview that went terribly, terribly wrong by any reasonable metric – except we’re talking Trump and Stern, so, y’know…

Slightly less related…

[CW : EVERYTHING, because the site itself is a fucking nazi rag] The fine folks at the Daily Stormer have apparently started a spoof religion, except since they don’t understand how satire and sarcasm work, they’re dead serious about it. Wake me up when the world ends.

A bonus though : apparently the “Catlady Ascendancy” thing has caught on, and they’re still using it.

I’m from 4chan; I take umbrage at the very idea of expending effort figuring out whether or not two assholes are actually the same person.

I don’t know if this has been posted on here before but Trump’s buddy Wayne Alan Root has some disturbing ideas about democracy.

@Axe:

I sincerely wish that too. Sobers turned 80 last b’day and this might be just too much for him to take.

Anyways, how are you? I hope all is well.

This is interesting. Frank Schaeffer (son of the late Francis) equates the Debi Pearl method with the religious right’s domination of America, Hispanics, women, gay people are ‘unruly children’ to be beaten and broken.

@Virgin Mary: The fact that they’d do that to a kid (even a bratty one) scares me. It’s abuse, pure and simple!

BritterSweet

@ Virgin Mary, it was already disturbing when someone named Dobson actually narrated a moment when he beat his dog with a belt (a 12 lb dachshund, while he was 200 lbs, as he himself described). After that I couldn’t read the rest thoroughly, just lightly skim a little ahead to catch examples of horrible child abuse before just stopping.

They truly support ruling the country under tyranny or, if it won’t comply, destroying it.

@BritterSweet: They’d beat a dog too?! Disgusting! I don’t hate lightly but I hate animal abusers! Dobson can go to the hell he believes in!

OT: Does anyone have any tips for quickly digging out roots the size of tree trunks? A relative of mine asked for my help when he’s off work.

So far an hour in and the most I’ve managed to do was shovel out the loose dirt with a hoe, there wasn’t enough room for a shovel, and widening the hole to get more space to work with.

I have a square shovel, a pickaxe, axe, hoe, hammer,an iron spike, and iron polearm with a pick end that looks like something from Dynasty Warriors.

Is it a tap root that’s giving you trouble? Or no?

Evangelicals absolutely terrify me, and I live in the “United” Kingdom. There is nothing in their morals or conduct which represents anything that Jesus (historical or legendary) was said to stand for. They are cruel, bigoted and destructive. I’m not surprised Trump has found a home amongst them.

The root I’d like to see extracted is Wayen Allan Root!

@Oogly

We burned ours out. Light a fire in there and once it gets going cover it up, and you wind up with charcoal instead of wood.

If they’re just roots, then using the axe on the thickest should be easiest. Grab a file for sharpening the blade, though, because it’s gonna get dull faaaast. Chopping through earth dulls blades really quick.

If it’s a tap root? Eeeesh, those are a pain. The only real way to do it is dig underneath it and hack at it with an axe or saw. What you want is one of these:

http://www.liftingrigging.com/up_files/image/Article/2008/05/26/48655274.gif

A ratcheting hand winch is one of the cheaper ways to get some serious pull on a stump; you can get’em for like fifty bucks if you get a cheap one. You’re still going to have to dig and chop a lot, but the winch will keep tension on it so that your cuts go deeper. Vital tool for what you’re doing – it’ll cut the time it takes in half. If you can get one, use it!

If not? Use that big ole metal pole as a pry bar and, once you have dug down enough to expose the tap roots, use it to keep the roots under tension while your friend (carefully!) chops at it.

Exhausting stuff, taking out stumps. Take breaks and keep hydrated!

EDIT: Not a tap root! Will reply again.

PoM’s got the easiest answer in one, for sure. Hadn’t thought of that, but if you’re able to do a burn (I dunno, it looks pretty dry there!) then that’s going to be much, much easier.

Otherwise, yeah, it’s just axe work. Tree roots are really tough and springy, at least where I’m from, so you’ll want to sharpen your axes pretty frequently. Exhausting! Breaks! Hydration! I hope it isn’t too bad!

@ ooglyboggles

A neighbour had a root like that and in the end we used a very thick cable assembly and two weighted down Land Rovers (even a 3 tonne rated winch wouldn’t do it).

Although the burning idea makes a lot more sense now I think about it.

@Virgin Mary

Don’t ask me why, but your post up thread gave me the strongest flashbacks.

As a fellow Brit, over 20 years ago I was helping my then boyfriend and his mum babysit his 2 year old nephew (grandson). We were playing with toy cars in a toy garage. All of a sudden (with no obvious reason), the kid’s face clouded over and he said “don’t like Satan, stamp on him” with appropriate stamping. Our faces all did WTF. His parents attended an evangelical church.

That memory stays with me.

Off topic:
A friend asked me if I had any good resources for teaching Social Justice 101 to members of majority groups (how to be aware of your own privilege, how to be a good ally, et cetera.) Off the top of my head the best resource I could think of was Shakesville, but that’s not always a 101 resource.

Does anyone else have any favourites?

I have had similar experience. My mum was brainwashed by the exclusive brethren as a youth, and she is still brainwashed now. I challenge her sometimes about it, and her reaction is basically fear. Children are innocent, they don’t need to be browbeaten about ‘satan’ to other imagined bogeymen. It happens far to often. I don’t even think kids in school should get mandatory RE lessons. Religion is something you should explore when you are mature enough to understand it, otherwise it is simply scaremongering and bullying.

Holy shit! I say cut it as much as you can. That’ll leave you with smaller pieces to deal with. Might help…

Also, TIL “taproot” isn’t just the name of a band *shrug*

@EJ
Outta curiosity, what does “teaching… majority groups” mean? Randos online, friends and family, a classroom? Just askin. I got no suggestions for ya either way, I’m afraid

@Virgin Mary

I have no problem with small children being taught appropriate behaviour (I.e. Don’t be a dick). I have problems with them being taught it via the stick method (ie Satan will torture you for eternity). Apart from anything else, isn’t Satan a Dick? Who tortures him?

And I was raised (until 10) in a very religious upbringing, but without fire and brimstone. Being horrid was just wrong, I didn’t need a penalty worse than being bad.
