Hey, it’s Thanksgiving!

At least for all us USians. I plan to spend the day eating things and not reading MRA blogs.

Here’s something we can all be thankful for: a baby panda playing with a soccer ball.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whether with family or far from it, with turkey and all the trimmings or letting the day pass uneventfully, here’s wishing you all innumerable reasons to be happy and to say “thank you.”

Thanks David for this most entertaining and diverting blog, as well as luring our daily trolls. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. As for the trolls, today it’s Meller who is need of human interaction beyond typing long dismal screeds somewhere on the Internet. Very sad.

I’m thankful that I’m Canadian and therefore celebrated Thanksgiving in October, and I’m thankful that the Grey Cup is on this Sunday so that I can see my brothers at least once this month.

    Our menu was:

    Deep fried turkey
    Mashed potatoes and gravy
    Homemade noodles
    Stuffing
    Green been casserole
    Deviled eggs
    Rolls
    Watergate salad
    Blackberry cobbler
    Pumpkin pie

It takes a lot of cooking and cleaning, but it’s totally worth it for such a delicious meal.

Dare I ask about Watergate salad?

Lol, it does have a funny name, but it has nothing to do with Richard Nixon. It’s just whipped cream, coconut, pistachio pudding mix, pineapple, and nuts. We all laugh about the name, and try to come up with other political scandal inspired food names, like Teapot Dome scandal pudding or Sanborn Contract tea. I highly recommend you try the recipe, because it’s so easy and delicious.

I made a turducken ( smoked on the grill for 8 hours with apple wood added to the charcoal), green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, rutabaga, and a pumpkin pie.

My friend came over with her family and brought greens, candied yams, potato salad, cheese cake and sweet potato pie.

A good time was had by all.

I’m thankful that I went to a Thanksgiving with several people I loved, but still couldn’t show that because not everyone there would have understood that we’re poly, and yet we still had a good time for 80% of it and pulled through okay.

I am also thankful I got compliments on the two pies I made for it because I was sure they’d be complete disasters.

We had quite the spread at my aunt’s house:

Roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes with cheese, garlic and herbs, sausage stuffing, fruit and nut stuffing, fresh cranberry sauce, canned jellied cranberry, pear jello, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, glazed carrots, red cabbage, brussels sprouts, squash, gravy…and some kind of corn casserole that looked rather unfortunate. I didn’t have any of that. Oh, yeah, and pumpkin pie, banana cream pie and blueberry topped cheesecake.

I’m totally looking forward to having fruit and nut stuffing, red cabbage and scrambled eggs tomorrow morning. The best part is leftovers!

Pumpkin cake (decorated like a pumpkin, to boot!)

    Sangria
    Champagne Punch
Some other things I can’t even remember

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I’m going to spend today sitting… for a while.

Dare I ask about Watergate salad?

I suspect that, as with Waldorf Salad (to which it has a slight resemblance) it was created at the Watergate Hotel, scene of the infamous break-in.

Molly: We are out to our families, so Thanksgiving didn’t suffer from that, and we can arrange our sleeping as we like.

As a point of order, that’s not a Gatling. It’a a belt-fed machine gun. I sort of want one.

Great Post. Yes everyone Happy Thanksgiving 2011. Since everyone gave a bit of their menu, here I go. Turkey with awesome gravy sweet potatoes, veggie casserole, stuffing, mac and cheese and buttery creamy mashed potatoes. Dessert consisted of various fruit pies/cobblers, and good sweet potato and pumpkin pies. The pies were to be eaten warm with Breyers vanilla ice cream. It was good that the tryptophan did not make me tired this year. A Mens Rights Activist cannot afford to be tired the holiday season, too much work to do. You Know? LOL.

Holly: Yeah, it’s really hard to navigate even when you’re out, isn’t it? : / But hey… it was still better than last year, cuz Nerf guns. And pie! And about 20 minutes when all the kinky people talked about going to an Ikea trade show where we’d find a piece we could really stretch out on and put it through all kinds of stress tests… 😛

    Mashed potatoes
    Home made turkey gravy
Home made cranberry sauce and applesauce
    Pumpkin bread

    Corn custard
    Sweet potato soufle
    Pumpkin pie
    Pecan pie
    Apple pie
    Chocolate chip pumpkin cake
